Overview
The engine develops maximum torque only in a certain range of engine speed. Transmission allows you to maintain optimum speed regardless of vehicle speed and load. To do this, set on the cars gearbox with five forward gears and one - reversing. At the request of the vehicle can set the automatic transmission. The torque from the engine crankshaft through the clutch is transmitted to the gearbox output shaft. On the primary shaft are six gears (including reverse gear), which are in constant engagement with the six-gear output shaft. A secondary shaft gears rotate freely on the shaft as long as the gearshift control does not include a specific transmission, causing the corresponding gear is locked with the secondary shaft of the gearbox. The ratio of number of teeth of the gear pairs included in the result provides a suitable transmission. When switching gears between the gears is not executed a single connection - the connection is between the gear and the shaft. To align the shaft speed and gear synchronizers are used, consisting of several parts. The rotating shaft is braked quickly due to friction until the uniform speed at the connection to the transmission of torque. Since sync speeds require a short time, it is recommended not to press strongly on the shift lever, especially when the engine is cold and thick oil. The output shaft of the gearbox transmits torque through the differential to the wheel drive shafts.
