Airbags

Warning signs
In the car there are several warning signs related to the SRS. When working with SRS follow the instructions in labels. If labels are dirty or damaged, replace them with new ones.

Electrical system
The airbag system includes a complex electrical and electronic components, so with the elements of the airbag must be handled very carefully.
SRSCM (control unit security system)
- Controls the opening of the airbag in the determination of a frontal impact sensor built into SRSCM.
Direct current converter
- Comprises a step-up and down converter, providing a voltage level for six airbag ignition circuits and internal operating voltage. If the internal operating voltage falls below a certain threshold, a reboot is performed.
The sensor trigger / safety sensor
- Built-in airbag ignition charge, supports the readiness of the airbag system in all conditions during normal movement. Safety sensor - a two-contact electromechanical switch that is closed if the detected acceleration (deceleration) exceeds a certain value.
Power backup
- Supplies of energy for an air bag deployment in a fraction of a second when the voltage of the electrical system of the car is low or absent because of a frontal impact.
Fault detection.
After ignition SRSCM constantly monitors the operation of the SRS and defines it possible faults. The fault may be determined in the form of a diagnostic code scanner using a Hi-Scan.
The indicator lamp (MIL).
If a fault is detected, it sends a signal to SRSCM warning lamp located in the instrument cluster.
The indicator lamp (MIL) is the primary means of information about the driver's fault SRS. The security system is OK if the control lamp (MIL) flashes 6 times after the ignition is switched on and then goes out.
Record faults.
If the system is malfunctioning, SRSCM writes it into memory in the form of a fault code (DTC), and the code may be erased from the memory of the scanner only Hi-Scan.
Diagnostic connector.
The data stored in the memory SRSCM, are read by a scanner Hi-Scan through the diagnostic connector.
After a single airbag deployment SRSCM unit can not be used - it must be replaced.
The output on impact.
This signal is used to control an external device that unlocks the door in case of an accident. A signal is defined as follows: 0-200 uA off and 200 mA in an ON state. In the case of signal unlock switch is closed for 200 ms.

Disclosure Module (DAB, PAB, SAB)
Modules DAB (driver airbag), RAV (front passenger airbag), DSAB (driver side airbag) and PSAB (passenger side airbag) consist of the device opening and pillows. Uncovering device (the device igniting the gas generator) is located in the air bag module. When a frontal impact of sufficient force to close the circuit through the sensor SRSCM Airbag current begins to flow. He ignites the charge, and the airbag opens.
1. When removing the airbag module and work with the new module must be positioned so that the surface of the cushion facing upwards. Lever Lock connector with a double lock to be in a locked state, and must be handled with care to avoid damaging the connector. Do not store the steering wheel cushion pillows on top of another (storage cushion the metal surface can lead to serious consequences if the airbag accidentally revealed).
2. Never measure the resistance of the airbag squib - it can cause the air bag inflates.
3. Store the airbag module in a location where the ambient temperature exceeds 93 ? C, high humidity and no electrical noise.
4. When using electric welding before starting work disconnect connectors airbag located underneath the steering column near the pin multifunction switch.

Harness the SRS
SRS harness is located inside a yellow tube, so as not to confuse it with the other wiring harness systems. Inside pin connectors from the device uncovering DAB, PAB, DSAB, PSAB and BPT are jumpers. They close the electric current when disconnecting connectors. Thus, undesired expansion is the airbag module with cushions.

Activation of the lamp unit SRSCM
Warning light SRS, located in the instrument cluster informs the driver of the operating status of SRS.
There are some conditions under which SRSCM can not function, and therefore can not operate the lamp control security system.
In such cases, the lamp is activated directly from the corresponding circuit, which operates independently of SRSCM, for example, in the following cases:
- In the absence of the supply voltage to the ignition unit SRSCM lights up continuously;
- In the absence of the internal operating voltage lights up continuously;
- If SRSCM not connected, the lamp is switched via jumper to pin harness connector.

Watch-spring
Clock (twisted) spring consists of two twisted coils. It is installed between the steering column and the steering wheel and allows the steering wheel to rotate, keeping constant contact with the air bag system of uncovering.
The steering wheel should be properly installed on the steering column when the clock spring is in the neutral (middle) position. Otherwise the wire may break or other malfunctions occur.

The system for detecting the presence of the passenger (PPD)
The detection system detects the presence of a passenger in the front seat passenger. This system is designed primarily to prevent the need to replace components of an airbag system, which is triggered when a crash is not necessary. The system consists of a PPD weight sensor.
Threshold of PPD:
- The seat is occupied - 15 kg;
- Free seat - 0.6 kg.
Sensor characteristics:
RP <50 ohm for the weight> 15 kg;
RP> 50 ohm for the weight of <0.6 kg
where RP - resistor load indication.

Sensor-satellite
Activating system side airbag unit includes SRSCM, installed in the center of the vehicle interior, and two satellite sensors located on the left and right sides of the vehicle. SRSCM unit activates the vehicle airbags and seat belt pretensioners. As a result, coordination of information between the unit and the sensor-SRSCM companion SRSCM unit outputs a signal for activation.
Sensors satellites act as intelligent acceleration sensors and as a backup controller central air bags. Both sensors are constantly informed of the satellite control unit SRSCM about the current state of the left and right sides of the vehicle. The test results are reported to the control unit SRSCM through periodic status signals.

A WARNING
When the ignition is never expose the impact area near the sensor satellites, or may suddenly trigger the airbag.

Driver Airbag Module
Withdrawal
Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery and insulate it.

A WARNING
Before continuing, wait at least 30 seconds after disconnecting the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.
