Design Features

Starter car is a four-pole, chetyrehschetochny DC motor with permanent magnet excitation, combined with an electromagnetic two-winding traction relay.

Details starter
Fig. 10.4. Details starter: 1 - a cover from outside a drive; 2 - the drive lever; 3 - damper actuator arm; 4 - thrust washers; 5 - a lock ring clutch; 6 - thrust ring clutch; 7 - mounting bolts of the traction relay; 8 - clutch actuator; 9 - the traction relay; 10 - a rotor; 11 - tightening bolts; 12 - bolts of fastening of the brush holder to the cover; 13 - a cover from outside a collector; 14 - brush holder; 15 - Stator

Cover 1 13 (Fig. 10.4) and stator housing 15 are tightened by two bolts 11. The stator housing fixed permanent magnets. The rotation of the rotor of the motor 10 is transmitted through the clutch drive gear 8 drives.
On the cover 1 on the drive side screws 7 fixed magnetic switch 9, which is anchored by the lever 2 moves the clutch.

Wiring diagram of a starter
Fig. 10.5. Wiring Diagram starter: 1 - the storage battery; 2 - contacts of the traction relay; 3 - which draws winding traction relay; 4 - keeping winding of the traction relay; 5 - anchor of the traction relay of a starter; 6 - rotor; 7 - pole of the starter; 8 - Brush; 9 - the switch (lock) of ignition

When you turn the key in the switch (lock) of ignition 9 (Fig. 10.5) to ?START? the voltage from the battery 1 is supplied to the retractor 3 and retaining 4 winding traction relay, the armature 5 which moves the lever 2 (see. Fig. 10.4) drive and a starter clutch gear engages with the toothed rim of the flywheel. At the same time anchor of the traction relay closes the power contacts 2 (see. Fig. 10.5), at this moment coil which draws off and the starter motor is energized from the battery. Anchor the starter through the clutch turns the engine crankshaft. After starting the engine when the speed exceeds the speed of the pinion shaft of the starter clutch is released and slips, thereby protecting the starter from the high-speed and damage.

HELPFUL HINTS
To avoid many faults starter, follow some simple rules when operating:
- When the engine is started the starter no more than 10-15 seconds and again - after 20-30 seconds. Continuous long-term operation of a starter can lead to overheating. If after three attempts the engine does not start, then check and fix the fault in the power system of the engine or in the ignition system;
- After the engine starts, immediately turn off the starter, so long as the rotation of the drive gear flywheel can cause damage to the starter freewheel;
- Are not allowed to move the car with the starter. This causes it to considerable overload and damage.
