Checking fluid pressure in the hydraulic system
| Fig. 5.4. Special device for measuring the fluid pressure in the hydraulic system
|
Assemble special tools, as shown in Figure 5.4.
| Fig. 5.5. Connecting the unit to the power steering pump hose
|
Disconnect the pressure line from the power steering pump and connect the special tool (Fig. 5.5). The inhaling moment: 29,4-44,1 Nm. Bleed the system. Fully open the valve. Start the engine and turn the steering wheel left and right until it stops to raise the temperature of the working fluid to 50-60 ? C.
| Fig. 5.6. Check the pressure when the valve is closed
|
Fully close the valve. Increase the engine speed to 1000-1500 min -1 and measure the pressure created by the pump (Fig. 5.6). If the pressure is not correct, repair or replace the power steering pump parts. The pressure of the working fluid: 10,80-11,29 MPa.
ATTENTION If you leave the valve closed for more than 5 seconds, the temperature of the working fluid to increase significantly, which adversely affect the work of the power steering pump. |
| Fig. 5.7. Check the pressure when the valve is open
|
Fully open the valve the pressure gauge and increase the engine speed to 1000-1500 min -1 (Fig. 5.7). Turn the steering wheel left and right until it stops, and then measure the fluid pressure in the housing of the steering mechanism. If the pressure is not correct, repair or replace parts of the steering mechanism. The pressure of the working fluid: 10,80-11,29 MPa. Remove the special tools. Install the pressure pipe and tighten it to specified torque. The inhaling moment: 29,4-44,1 Nm. Bleed the system.
