Overview

The motor vehicle is operated in different climatic conditions and with different loads. Coolant temperature and hence engine and should be regulated to remain within a narrow temperature range, provided that the engine cooling system.
The cooling system includes a water seal-type pump driven by a belt, fan radiator, a radiator, an expansion tank, a thermostat and a radiator heater hoses and switches. When starting a cold engine coolant circulates around the cylinder block and cylinder head. Warm coolant passes through the radiator heater to the water pump. Since the coolant expands when heated, it increases its level in the expansion tank. Receipt of the coolant through the radiator is stopped by closing the thermostat. When the coolant reaches a certain temperature, the thermostat opens and hot coolant flows through the radiator hose. As the coolant passes through the radiator, it takes a counter-flow cooling air.

The housing is located near the radiator thermostat on the four-cylinder engines in the top rear of the engine six-cylinder engines (Fig. 2.47).
