Crankcase Ventilation System
Operating principle The principle of operation of the system controlled crankcase ventilation (PCV) is shown in the accompanying illustration. The crankcase fumes, including in its membership to break out of the combustion chambers, bypassing the piston rings gases entering the separator unit, located in the cylinder head cover. The oil drain plug back into the engine and the oil separator through a hose from the air cleaner is supplied clean air. The air is mixed with the crankcase gases and a valve control ventilation (PCV) fed into the intake pipe, and then - in the combustion chamber. The most effective system operates at high engine speeds, when the shallow depth of the vacuum in the intake manifold provides a complete opening of the valve PCV. Accordingly, in the closing of the throttle when the intake manifold is formed deep depression, the effectiveness of the crankcase ventilation is minimal. In badly worn engine, when the level of erupting into the crankcase gases from the combustion chambers plumb part of the crankcase vapors gets back to the air cleaner, regardless of the position of the throttle. Service | The system is subject to regular maintenance. Particular attention should be paid to the following points. |
| - Check the patency and condition of rubber hoses. Replace defective.
- Check the condition of the seals of the neck of the Gulf of motor oil and probe. Replace the defective and / or suspicious seals.
- Check the operation of the valve PCV.
|
|
Check the functioning of the PCV valve | - Disconnect the PCV hose from the cylinder head cover.
- Start the engine and leave it running at idle.
| - Press your finger to the open end of the hose (see. Accompanying illustration). It should feel the vacuum, otherwise the permeability PCV valve is broken. Clean the valve or replace it.
