Installation of the piston of the first cylinder in TDC
As already noted, in order to avoid damage to the valves during engine overhaul, removing the cylinder head, and so on., To the removal of the timing belt, and before installing it using the labels provided by the manufacturer, it is necessary to establish the piston of the first cylinder in the top dead center. This procedure is applied to diesel engines performed as follows: - Pre uncover a camshaft, accessory drive belt, the outer cover of the timing belt, remove the plug inspection hole of the gearbox;

- Turning the crankshaft clockwise to align the mark on the edge of the flywheel with the notch on the cover firmly transaxle case - Fig. 3.6;

- With a special tool (Fig. 3.7) fix the camshaft (but not its toothed pulley) so that the edge of the bracket fits into the notch on the end of the camshaft;

- Using two sets of test leads, place the bracket exactly horizontally inserted on both sides of the camshaft at each end of the bracket between it and the cylinder head by one probe, the thickness of each of which is equal to half of the initially measured gap (Fig. 3.8); - Insert the locking finger through the insertion hole pulley high pressure fuel pump and replace it in the support bracket behind the pulley. Due to this high pressure fuel pump will be locked in the desired position (3.9). Upon completion of the above operation the first cylinder is considered established at TDC.
