Overview
The bodies of the third-generation Golf cars were produced in versions Golf (from 2/92 on 8/97 - two-volume three / five-door hatchback type), Vento (8/97 to 2/92 for three-volume, four-door sedan type), Variant (with 9/91 five-door, wagon-type), Golf Cabrio (two-door, like a convertible soft-top). In all of the embodiments described the body of cars, they have a bearing steel skeleton of spatial-type welded outer panels (except for the bonnet, front wings, mounted on the screws, and the soft roof of the tent in the model Golf Cabrio).

The design of the body structure has a number of power components that significantly improve the passive safety of the car. Their location and design of the form and malodeformiruemye deformable zones of the body, which in most cases ensures the safety of the living space inside the vehicle after a collision with obstacles (Fig. 10.1). Bodyshell car with a body type convertible to give it sufficient rigidity enhanced by changing the design of the bottom and the elements associated with it. The hood and doors are mounted on hinges. The windshield is glued into the frame of the windscreen. Bumpers are made of impact resistant plastic.
