Check the thickness of the front and rear brake pads
Front brake pads For the most accurate determination of residual thickness of the brake pads, remove the front left wheel. If necessary, remove the wheel bolt caps. Mark the position of the wheel relative to the brake disc. Remove the wheel bolts and remove the wheel.
| Fig. 6.11. Measuring the thickness of pads: a - the thickness of the lining, without pads
|
Measure the thickness of the outer and inner pads (Fig. 6.11). Criterion Wear Indicators: 2 mm. When the thickness of the lining (no back plate) of 2 mm brake pads is worn out and should be replaced.
NOTE When replacing the brake pads as a mandatory check the degree of wear of the brake discs |
Screw the wheel at the marked position. Tighten the wheel bolts crosswise. After completion of the work put the adapter bolt locking in a set of Automotive Tools. If necessary, put wheel bolt caps.
Rear brake pads Shine a flashlight through the hole in the rim. Visually determine the thickness of the outer pad. Highlight a flashlight inside block and substitute a mirror.
| Fig. 6.12. Measuring the thickness of pads: a - the thickness of the lining of internal and external brake pads without pads
|
Visually determine the thickness of the inner pad (Fig. 6.12). Criterion Wear Indicators: 2 mm When the thickness of the lining (no back plate) of 2 mm brake pads is worn out and should be replaced.
NOTE When replacing the brake pads as a mandatory check the degree of wear of the brake discs. |
