Generator
The generator - a source of electric power supply of the vehicle. With the engine running, he provides electricity to all units and charges the battery. Powerful three-phase synchronous generator is the power plant power of your vehicle. Even in idle mode it provides power supply of all consumers. In modern cars the generator is capable of producing power up to 2 kW. The generator is driven by a V-belt. Three-phase generator generates three-phase AC. Because the battery must be recharged DC, with the help of high-power diode converts AC to DC. Rectifiers also prevent battery discharge when stationary. The generator requires virtually no maintenance. Independently, you can replace the brushes of the generator after a distance of 100 000 km. In the case of a serious malfunction hand over the generator for repair.
Attaching wires to the generator B +
Tightening torque for fixing nut B + wire is located in the table "Tightening torques" (Fig. 7.7).
ATTENTION If B + wire is fixed to the wrong torque, the following risks: - The battery is not fully charged. - Can occur failure of the electrical equipment and car electronics. - There is a danger of fire due to possible sparking and damage to electronic components and control units due to overexertion. |
Checking the V-ribbed belt Turn the engine at vibration damper / pulley socket wrench. Check-ribbed belt for the following damages: - Breaks the support layer (tears, fissures in the middle of the transverse faults); - Exfoliation of the layers (the upper layer, the working surface); - Torn parts of the backing layer; - Wear on the surface; - Wear edges (material wear, frayed / bristling edge hardening edges, cracks in the edges) - Traces of oil and grease.
ATTENTION In the case of discovery of defects is essential to replace the V-ribbed belt. Thus, it is possible to prevent possible malfunction and failure of some functions. |
