Installing the steering rod
Before installing put on the rack supplied with the repair kit grease.
ATTENTION Never use a different grease. |
To do this, turn the steering in both directions until it stops. For better clarity, the figure shows filmed steering.
Coat the rack teeth A and stock rails (from the abutment stop) lubricant (Fig. 5.29). Set the wheels straight.

Screw in the tie rod in the tie rod up until it reaches the size of A (Fig. 5.34). Dimension A = 371 ?� 1 mm. On the track rod put new collars and bellows. Screw the tie rod in the rod rack and tighten.
Gaiter 2 put on the tie rod 1, as depicted in Figure 5.30. Gaiter put on the gear casing and slide until it stops. Pliers for Phaeton steering mechanisms crimp the new clamp, as shown in the figure. Further installation in reverse order. After installation, check the wheel alignment. Adjust the wheel alignment. Perform basic installation angle sensor using. Then follow the basic installation of the steering using a tester.
