Brakes
The front wheels are disc brakes in the rear wheels - self-adjusting drum brakes. It is necessary to take into account some of the design features of the car's brakes Polo: - For vehicles with anti-lock ABS system instead of disc brakes on the rear axle mounted drum brakes; - Until January 1995 vehicles fitted with disc brakes type VW MK.I. Together with them, we adjusted unventilated brake discs 239 mm in diameter, 10 mm thick. Front disc brakes were changed in January 1995, Since then equip vehicles such as VW MK.II brakes and ventilated discs. Disc diameter remains the same, and their thickness is increased to 18 mm; - In spite of the existing differences of disk brake mechanisms, removal and installation of parts, such as brake pads, calipers, etc., there is practically no difference; - Details concerning the system of ABS, are dealt with separately at the end of this section. The other construction of the front and rear brake related parts installed without ABS. The brake system is designed with double-driven: each circuit master cylinder carries at diagonally divided braking circuits corresponding to the two wheels. The standard equipment includes the braking system brake booster. Some models are equipped with a pressure regulator.
