A WARNING
The maximum protective effect of seat belts and airbags can only be achieved with the right seat adjustment

The front airbag system does not work:
- In side impacts;
- When striking the rear of the vehicle;
- Roll-over;
- When weak frontal crashes.
Airbags in no case do not replace the seat belts and are an important element of passive safety. It should be borne in mind that the highest efficiency of the airbags is achieved only when used together with their belts.
The airbag system comprises:
- Electronic control system and control its operational readiness (control);
- Two airbags (air bags with gas generator) for the driver (steering wheel) and front passenger (in the dashboard);
- Warning lamp on the instrument cluster.
Operational readiness of the system is controlled by an electronic device.
After each switching on the ignition control lamp airbag system lights up for a few seconds (self-test).
Violation of the operational readiness of the system shows the following:
- When the ignition control lamp does not light up;
- After about 3 seconds after switching on the ignition control lamp does not go out;
- After the ignition control lamp goes off and then again begins to burn;
- While driving indicator lamp lights up or blinks.
When you turn off the front passenger airbag every time you turn on the ignition for a few seconds warning lamp <AIRBAG>, then for 12 to blink, and then turns off completely.

A WARNING
In each case of violation of the above operational readiness of the system must be checked at a service center Audi. Otherwise there is a danger that, if necessary cushion will not work properly.

When the system is activated air bags are filled with working gas and inflating, unfolding in front of the driver and passenger.
When the palm of the driver and front passenger in a fully inflated air bags movement of their bodies forward inertia is extinguished, and the risk of injury to the head and upper body is significantly reduced.
The air bag is designed so that during a frontal impact under load from the body of the driver or sitting beside him passenger in a controlled release of gas from the cushion to soften the impact of the head and upper body. After the collision, the air bag becomes empty, and does not interfere with the review.

Filling airbag occurs at a high speed in a matter of seconds, and provides the accident protection.
The appearance of the cabin a large number of fine dust in the inflated airbag is normal and not cause for concern.
