Labelling of tires and wheels

When choosing tires need to be able to read their labels.

Radial tires (fig. 13.3) have a marking on the sidewall of, for example:

195/65 R15 91 H, where

195 - section width in mm;

65 - the ratio of the tire section height to its width,%;

R - the location of the carcass cords, the designation of the radial tire;

15 - rim diameter in inches;

89 - load index of the tire;

H - the speed index

Release date is also specified on the tire sidewall (in some cases only on the inner surface of the tire).

DOT CUL UM8-507 TUBELESS,

where DOT - a sign of compliance with the standard;

CU - a code mark of the manufacturer;

L2 - the size of the tire;

UM8 - type tires;

507 - manufacturing date (Week 50, 1997);

TUBELESS - tubeless tire;

TUBE TYPE - chamber.

On the rims there is also a mark.

For example, the designation of 6J x 16 deciphered as follows:

6 - the width of the disc in inches;

J - the type designation of the profile of the rim of the rim;

x - deep rim;

16 - boarding disc diameter in inches.
