Toothed belt
Withdrawal Replacing the timing belt is made with the engine mounted on the vehicle.
A WARNING Chalk, markers or paint mark the direction of rotation of the toothed belt. After setting the belt rotates in the opposite direction, which may result in its destruction. |
When replacing the timing belt should be considered:

1. Installation of the upper toothed belt 5 (Fig. 3.1.38) it is necessary to precisely align to the lower housing. 2. In engines of different models use timing belts of varying lengths. 3. When installing a gear belt pulley 19 of the crankshaft between the pulley and the shaft of grease. The pulley can be installed in only one position. 4. When assembling the bolt 20 (see. Fig. 3.1.38) must be replaced. When unscrewing and screwing the bolt holding the pulley by turning special tool 3415. Install the front transverse panel in service position (see. "Body").

Remove the three screws and remove the engine cover (see. Fig. 3.1.2). Remove poly V-belt and V-ribbed belt tensioner.

Remove the bolts of the water pump pulley. To prevent rotation of the pulleys, insert the clip into the hole of the pulley power steering pump (see. Fig. 3.1.32). Remove the top casing of a gear belt.

Turning the crankshaft in the direction of its working rotation of the pulley bolt, install the piston of the first cylinder in the top dead center (TDC). Make sure that the mark on the camshaft pulley combined with the index on TDC cylinder head cover and the label of the crankshaft combined with the index on the housing (Fig. 3.1.39).

The key Torx T45 to loosen the bolt tensioner toothed belt (Fig. 3.1.42). Click on the video down and loosen the tension of the toothed belt.

Allen key 8 mm slowly turn counterclockwise toothed belt tensioner pulley to align the holes 2 (Fig. 3.1.43) in stock and housing tensioner. In this position, insert into the holes T40011 mandrel or a steel rod with a diameter of 1.5 mm. Do not loosen the bolts 3.
All models Remove the timing belt. Do not turn the crankshaft of the engine at the removed gear belt, otherwise after assembling the pistons may hit the valves.
WARNINGS 1. Do not twist or bend a gear belt. Exclude hit on a toothed belt oil, coolant or fuel. 2. If there is chipping of teeth of the toothed belt, possibly jammed water pump, oil pump or camshaft. 3. The gap toothed belt with the engine running can cause valves to strike the pistons, causing the valves can become deformed. 4. Check the valve clearances. In the deformed valves they are much more required. 5. If the outer surface of the toothed belt is significantly worn or stratified, check the condition of the pulleys. If wear or damage are found only on one side of the belt, check the guide toothed belt and pulley parallelism of the toothed belt. If you find any defects toothed belt replace it with new. 6. Previously filmed belt set in accordance with the put labels. |
NOTE If it is necessary to crank the camshaft when removing the toothed belt, the crankshaft should not be in the end of the compression stroke, in any of the cylinders. In this case can be an impact of pistons and valves opening and the engine will be damaged. Note the position and turn the crankshaft a quarter turn in one direction or another. |
Setting Align the mark on the camshaft pulley with a pointer to the TDC cylinder head cover (see. Fig. 3.1.39). Install the timing belt on the crankshaft pulley. Establish the bottom casing of a gear belt. Establish a pulley-damper and secure it with one screw. Mounting hole on the pulley-damper should be aligned with the hole of the pulley of a gear belt. Check the position and, if necessary, turn the crankshaft in the position corresponding to the TDC of the first cylinder, and the mark on the crankshaft pulley must be aligned with the pointer on the housing (see. Fig. 3.1.39). Put the toothed belt on the roller tensioner and the camshaft pulley. Adjust the tension of the toothed belt. Engines manufactured before 06.99 g Special wrench Matra V159 turn Holder A (Fig. 1.3.44) tensioner clockwise so that the lever holder 1 has moved to the end, and the rod 2 protruding above the cylinder housing 1 mm. In this position, previously little effort tighten the bolt tensioner.
| Fig. 1.3.44. Adjusting the tension of the toothed belt: A - holder in - a special key (for example, Matra V159), 1 - the lever holder, 2 - stock, 3 - torque wrench mounted on the bolt tensioner
|
Turn the hand crankshaft two turns.
| Fig. 3.1.45. Places measuring the size of the tension mechanism when checking the toothed belt tension: A - the position of the end of the lever, in which the belt tension optimal; The - the position of the end of the arm in which the tension mechanism to limit wear and tear; C - the position of the end of the lever in which is necessary to readjust the tension of the timing belt; D = 25-29 mm
|
Check that the end of the lever (dimension A in Fig. 3.1.45) is aligned with the upper end of the rod 2 (see. Fig. 01.03.44), and the size D (cm. 3.1.45) is within 25-29 mm. This means that the belt tension is correctly adjusted. If the end of the arm is located at a distance B from the upper end of the rod means, tensioner is at the limit of wear. If the upper end of the rod 2 is located within a distance of C, you need to re-adjust the tension of the toothed belt and check the condition of the tensioner. Tighten the bolt 3 (see. Fig. 1.3.44) securing the tensioner to 25 Nm, with a special wrench Matra V159 hold holder against rotation.
Engines made with 06.99 g Allen key 8 mm click counterclockwise roller 1 (see. Fig. 3.1.43) the timing belt tensioner and remove the mandrel T40011 or steel rod from the holes in the housing and stock tensioner.
All models Turn the hand crankshaft two turns and set the position corresponding to the TDC of the first cylinder. Make sure that the mark on the camshaft pulley is aligned with the VMT pointer on the cylinder head cover and the mark on the crankshaft pulley is aligned with the pointer on the housing (see. Fig. 3.1.39). Tighten bolts of a pulley-damper, thus for the central pulley bolt to hold the toothed belt from the crankshaft rotation (see. Fig. 3.1.40). Install the top casing of a gear belt. Install radiator fan with viscous coupling. Install poly V-belt and V-ribbed belt tensioner. Install the front cross bar to the starting position.
