Check specific gravity of the coolant
Measure specific gravity hydrometer coolant. Measure the temperature of the coolant and determine the concentration of ethylene glycol from the relationship between specific gravity and temperature (tab. 2.10). For example, the safe operating temperature of -15 ? C, if the measured specific gravity of 1.058 g / cm 3 at a coolant temperature of 20 ? C.
Table 2.10 The ratio between the concentration and the specific gravity of ethylene glycol coolant
A WARNING If the concentration of glycol in the cooling fluid is less than 30%, its corrosion resistance to deteriorate considerably. If the concentration of more than 60%, the properties deteriorate and ethylene glycol coolant, which will adversely affect engine operation. Therefore, make sure that the level of concentration is within acceptable limits. Do not mix fluids of different brands. |
