The angle of inclination of the longitudinal axis of rotation

The angle of inclination of the longitudinal axis of rotation - is the angle of inclination between the axis and the vertical knuckle through the point of fastening the wheel in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle (Fig. 5.34). The axis about which the wheel rotates, is placed in the space so that its lower part is inclined forward. Such corner of a longitudinal inclination is called positive. If a positive angle provides better stability and stabilization of the steered wheels in rectilinear motion. The angle is set at the factory during the operation is not adjustable. If it differs from the nominal value, it replaces the deformed or damaged parts.
WARNINGS Before measuring the angles of the front wheels, make sure that the front suspension is not worn, damaged or loose parts. Measure the front axle with a special tool (09529-21000). Camber and caster angle of the axis of rotation are set at the factory and are not regulated. If the camber angle and pitch axis of rotation does not correspond to the reference value, replace the deformed or damaged parts. |
Shoulder running It should be noted another design feature front suspension: stabilizing the direction of the steering kinematics. For example, it improves the safety braking, when the right and left front wheels are in different height of the road surface. This is achieved by running shoulder, which is defined as the distance between the point of wheel contact with the road surface and the point at which the axis of rotation intersects the road surface in a front view. Negative kingpin offset increases the stabilizing point and compensates for a tendency to rollover.
