Removing and installing starter

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Disconnect the cable of a drive of a speedometer.
3. Disconnect the starter connector and the wire from the plug.
4. Remove the screws and remove the starter.
5. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Check and replacement of elements of the stator

Adjustment of a backlash gear

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect the M.
2. Additional wires connect the battery terminals to terminals S and M.

3. Turn on the ignition, with the starter pinion comes out ahead.

This test must be completed within 10 seconds, because, otherwise, it may burn out the coil of the traction relay.

4. Check the probe gap between the pinion and the stopper.

Gear backlash: 0,5-0,2 mm

5. If the clearance is not correct, adjust it by adding or removing spacers between the traction relay and the front cover.

Checking traction rel

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect the M.

2. Additional wires connect the battery terminals to terminals S and M.

This test must be completed within 10 seconds, because, otherwise, it may burn out the coil of the traction relay.

3. Turn on the ignition, with the starter pinion comes out ahead. If the gear does not extend, replace magnetic switch.

Check keeping winding of the traction relay

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect the M.

2. Additional wires connect the battery terminals to the terminal S and body of the traction relay.

This test must be completed within 10 seconds, because, otherwise, it may burn out the coil of the traction relay.

3. If pinion moves and stays in place it's okay. If the gear is repeatedly moved back and forth, then damaged retaining the winding traction relay and the need to replace the traction relay.

Performance tests (idling)

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Secure the starter in a vice and assemble the circuit shown in the figure.

2. Connect the ammeter (with a limit of measurement 100 A) and a carbon resistor as shown.
3. Connect a voltmeter to measure the limit of 0-15 V.
4. Turn the engine rheostat to the maximum resistance.
5. Connect a wire from the negative terminal of the battery to the starter.
6. Set the engine rheostat in a position in which the voltmeter shows voltage of 11.0 V.
7. Check the current consumed by the starter, and make sure the starter shaft rotates easily and smoothly.

Current: not more than 90 A
Speed: 3000 min -1

Check keeping winding of the traction relay

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect the M.

2. Additional wires connect the battery terminals to terminal M and the housing of the traction relay.

This test must be completed within 10 seconds, because, otherwise, it may burn out the coil of the traction relay.

3. If the gear will be extended, so that's all right. If the gear will go back to its original position, thus retaining damaged winding traction relay and the need to replace the traction relay.

Check

Check collector

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Install the rotor on V-blocks and a dial indicator, check the run-out of the collector. If the runout exceeds the limit, pierce a collector or replace the rotor.

  • Rated runout: 0.05 mm
  • Maximum allowable runout: 0.1 mm

2. Measure the diameter of the collector. If the diameter is less than the desired value, replace the rotor.

  • The diameter of the collector: 29.4 mm
  • The minimum allowable diameter collector: 28.4 mm

3. Measure the depth of the grooves between the contact plates of the collector If the depth is less than the maximum permissible value, replace the rotor.

  • The nominal depth; 0.5 mm
  • The minimum allowable depth: 0.2 mm

Check the brush holder

PERFORMANCE ORDER

An ohmmeter check up conductivity between each isolated brush and plate. In the presence of conductivity, replace the brush holder.

Checking freewheel

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Turn the gear. Gear should be free to rotate clockwise and locked when turning clockwise

2. Check the gear teeth freewheel and, if damaged, replace it. Also check the condition of the teeth of the flywheel.

Installation of the thrust ring and a spring ring

PERFORMANCE ORDER

Install the thrust washer and snap ring on the front side of the rotor shaft, then move the thrust ring all the way to the spring ring.

Cleaning parts starter

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Do not immerse parts starter solvent. Immersion in a solvent traction relay, stator and / or rotor will damage the wire insulation. These items are only wipe with a clean cloth.
2. Do not wash in a solvent overrunning clutch, as it will be washed out of the grease.
3. overrunning clutch can be cleaned with a brush with cleaning solvent and wiped with a clean cloth.

Replacement brush

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. brushes worn to the wear limit line, or oil-soaked, should be replaced.

2. When replacing field coil brushes worn brush with pliers Break, while being careful not to damage the braided wire.
3. sandpaper strip the end of the braided halter, to ensure good contact it with a new brush.

4. Insert braided wire into the hole of the brush and solder it. Make sure that the braided wire and excess solder do not come out on the surface of the brush.

5. When replacing the "mass" brush, remove the brush from the brush holder, a screwdriver relegating retaining spring back.

Gear Freewheel

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. To remove the freewheel to the shaft of the rotor, you must first remove the thrust ring.

2. Move to the thrust ring gear and remove the snap ring. Now thrust ring can be removed from the shaft.
