Repair of starter
Before dismantling the starter make sure it is a fault by the following simple checks. | | 1. Use a screwdriver to check the ease of movement of the freewheel along the drive shaft. | 2. Turn the drive gear. The gear can easily be rotated relative to the hub sleeve in the direction of rotation of the armature, and should not be turned in the opposite direction. |
| | 3. Connect the wires for the "Booster" terminal "-" removed from the car battery to the starter. Second, connect one end of the wire to the terminal "+" of the battery, and the second - at the conclusion of the control wire magnetic switch. If the magnetic switch properly, the clicks and pops the clutch actuator. Otherwise, the magnetic switch must be replaced. | 4. Disconnect the control output of the traction relay and connect the lower pin bolt traction relay. Anchor starter should begin to rotate at a frequency of more than 6000 min -1. Otherwise repair starter. |
You will need: the keys "7", "10", Allen head "13" and TORX E5, sliding pliers. | | 1. Remove the nut on the lower bolt contact traction relay ... | 2. ... and detach the tire. |
| | 3. Remove the three screws on the cover of the traction relay of a starter from the drive ... | 4. ... and remove the traction relay. |
| | 5. Remove the locking screws ... | 6. ... the cover and disconnect the starter and remove the damper actuator arm ... |
| | 7. ... remove the cover from the drive ... | 8 ... lever ... |
| | 9. ... and thrust washer. | 10. Remove the two screws on the brush assembly to the cover ... |
| | 11. ... remove the cover from the collector ... | 12. ... and thrust washer. |
| | 13. Remove the brush holder ... | 14. ... and remove the anchor from the stator. |
| | 15. Slide the shaft of the armature stop ring with a suitable mandrel. | 16. Pry the screwdriver ... |
| | 17. ... and remove the lock ring. | 18. Remove the armature shaft restrictive ring ... |
| | 19. ... and drive. | 20. Inspect the brush holder. Check the height of the brushes in the brush holder. If the height of 7 mm or less, replace the brush holder New. Check with an ohmmeter isolated holders for a short to the housing. Resistance should tend to infinity. |
21. Slots and journals armature shaft should not be damaged (nicks and burrs). Collector anchor must not have traces of erosion. Slight eliminate burning rags soaked in gasoline, and fine-grained sandpaper. |
| 22. Check the armature winding for a short "to ground" with an ohmmeter. Resistance should tend to infinity. |
23. to check that it is moving anchor of the traction relay of a starter, and if contact closed contact plate bolts (with an ohmmeter). |
24. Check the drive. The teeth of the pinion should not have a significant wear. The gear can easily be rotated relative to the hub sleeve in the direction of rotation of the armature, and should not be turned in the opposite direction. If the gear teeth are worn or damaged or gear rotates in both directions, replace the drive. |
25. On the arm the starter motor should not be cracks and considerable wear grooves forks. |
Collect starter in sequence, return dismantling, with the following features. 1. Grease the shaft spline anchor the silicon grease General Electric CG321 or equivalent. |
A WARNING In the operation of the clutch actuator is not necessary to lubricate. However, it must be cleaned of dirt. Do not clean the drive means which may be inherent in the wash his clutch lubrication. |
2. Apply engine oil to the bearings (bushings) in the cover of a starter. |
| | 3. To install, use the sliding guard ring pliers. | 4. Before installing the brush holder anchored dilute brush and fix any way possible (for example, a suitable mandrel). |
5. Before installation of the traction relay, apply to the surface of the relay contact with the starter cover on the drive side, a thin layer of silicone sealant. |
