Technical condition and installation of the cylinder head

The manufacturer recommends the measurement of head bolts in the cylinder to determine the need for replacement. Measure should be the length of each bolt (without the washer) from the base of the head to the end of the rod. If all of the bolts is shorter than 158.2 mm, they can be reused. If there are bolts, the length of which exceeds 158.2 mm, it is necessary to replace all the bolts of the cylinder head in the kit. Mating surface of the cylinder head to the engine block must be thoroughly cleaned before installing the head. Remove with a wooden or plastic scraper remains of old gasket and carbon deposits. Clean the piston crowns, taking the necessary precautions to not get soot in the lubrication channels and coolant.
Check the mating surface of the cylinder head block: they should not be nicks, deep scratches and other damage. If the damage is minor, they can be removed with a file. If the damage is significant, grind the contact surfaces on the machine. It should also check the flatness of the mating surfaces with a ruler.
Before you install a clean cloth, wipe the surface of the interface of the cylinder head to the block. Make sure that the two locating pins installed on the label in the engine block. Install the new gasket on the engine block. Install two people cylinder head assembly to the engine block on the dowel pins. Apply a thin coat of clean engine oil to the bolt head and under the bolts of the cylinder head. Fit the washers and screws, set screws into the holes. Tighten bolts by hand.

Tightening the cylinder head bolts
Fig. 2.56. Tightening the cylinder head bolts

Tighten the bolts in the sequence shown in Fig. 2.56 set in the application torques of threaded connections.
It is recommended to use a protractor when the bolts. After finishing the tightening of the main bolts of the cylinder head, tighten the bolts with a diameter of 6 mm at the front of the cylinder head. Ensure proper installation of cables, connect the distributor, ignition coil and ignition module. Secure the wiring harness clips and staples. Connect the wire of "weight" from the cylinder head and manifold and tighten the bolts.
On engines with fuel injection issue until 1993, set bolt pipe cooling system for the engine block and tighten. Install the starter. Connect the pipes of the cooling system with connections and secure them with clamps. Connect and lay down all wires and hoses.
Check the wires to the appropriate intake manifold assemblies and power supply system of the engine fuel. Install the intake manifold mounting brackets.
Connect and secure the wire fuel management. Connect the front exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold. Set the air filter and the air inlet. On vehicles with automatic transmission, connect and place the cable of compulsory inclusion of a downshift. Refit the camshafts.
