Dismantling and assembling differential
| Fig. 4.37. Knocking pin mounting axis of satellites
To disassemble the differential case of the differential set in a vice with soft sponges. Knock out the mounting pin axis of satellites (Fig. 4.37), remove the axle and remove satellites and side gears. Remove the pinion previously marking the location of parts. Remove the tapered roller bearings. Check the technical condition of the parts. Replace the bearings if they have scratches, wear or excessive overheating. Axis satellites should not be binding or traces of wear, excessive clearance in the housing, otherwise it must be replaced. The working surface of the teeth of the satellites and side gears should not crumble or excessively worn.

Before assembly, replace the side gears and satellites with washers. Then install the pinion gear shaft. Measure the axial movement of the side gears (Fig. 4.38), which should be less than 0.3 mm. With more displacement pick washers of appropriate thickness. Set a new pin mounting axis of satellites. Apply a layer of paste on the retaining bolts and set gear. Tighten the mounting bolts to 80 Nm.
