Ignition system
Overview Described in this guide cars series Patrol / Maverick equipped with one of two types of ignition systems. On models with engines 4.2 liters mounted ignition system with distributor conventional interrupter contacts, whereas l models 3.0 uses an electronic distributor. Both distributor driven by the camshaft via a helical gear and equipped with vacuum and centrifugal correctors ignition timing. L models 3.0 additionally equipped with thermal vacuum valve (TVV) control the operation of the vacuum-proof-reader. The valve prevents the supply of vacuum to the equalizer until the distributor until the engine has warmed up to the desired temperature. The distributor model to 4.2 liters for interrupting power supply to the primary circuit of the ignition coil a mechanical breaker contacts.
