Service Battery

Battery maintenance must be carried out in accordance with the schedule of routine maintenance of the car.

To perform the procedures described below need a hydrometer and Charger

Refitting

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect the battery positive and negative wires.
  2. Remove the clamp and remove the battery from the engine compartment of the vehicle.

Setting

Installation is in the reverse order.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check the condition of the battery terminals.
  2. When connecting the wires follow the correct polarity. First, connect the positive lead and secure.
  3. Do not tighten the screws too tight terminal clips.
  4. To prevent the development of corrosion grease the terminals and wire terminals with acid-free Vaseline.

Battery Care

The electrolyte battery highlights a highly explosive hydrogen - in any case, do not approach the battery with open flames!

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Keep the battery and its surrounding surfaces. Keep the top of the battery of dirt and moisture. If necessary, follow the cleaning of the external battery:
    1. Remove the battery from the vehicle;
    2. Carefully obleyte battery with hot water, taking care that it does not enter through the vents flood covers;
    3. Carefully wipe the battery case.
  1. Strip the battery terminals and terminal clamps with a wire brush, emery paper or a special device (see. Accompanying illustration). Remove all traces of dirt and corrosion.
  1. Remove the filler cap and make sure cross-vents.
  2. Check the level of electrolyte in the battery banks, if necessary, add distilled water. The electrolyte must completely hide the plate. Do not overfill the battery, do not overfill the electrolyte from one bank to another.
  3. If it is often necessary to add water, check the battery housing for signs of leakage. If cracks are found, replace the battery.
  4. By measuring the generator output check is not too high battery level.
  5. To prevent the development of corrosion grease the terminals with acid-free Vaseline.
  6. If the overflow electrolyte he got to the battery tray and the surrounding body panels proceed as follows:
    1. Treat contaminated surfaces with bicarbonate of soda;
    2. Rinse with hot water soda - remember that she soda reacts violently with water, causing excessive foaming;
    3. After termination of foaming, rinse the surface with clean water and let them dry;
    4. Remove from treated surfaces swollen paint;
    5. Cover the surface of the anti-corrosion paint.

Check the status and charging

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Hydrometer to measure the density of battery electrolyte (proceed according to the instructions supplied with the unit). Compare results of measurements to the standard data:

Indications hydrometer

The level of charge

1.110 ÷ 1.130

Fully discharged

1.140 ÷ 1.160

Nearly discharged

1.170 ÷ 1.190

Discharged enforcement approached by a quarter

1.200 ÷ 1.220

Discharged half

1.230 ÷ 1.250

Charged enforcement approached by three quarters

1.260 ÷ 1.280

Fully Charged

Data is given for the electrolyte temperature 20 ? C. For every 10 ? C above 20 ? C should be added to these values of 0.007. For every 10 ? C decrease in temperature with respect to 20 ? C - 0.007 consuming.

Remove the correct reading of the density of the electrolyte can not be, if the newly added banks in distilled water. If urovenelektrolita dropped below the upper edge of the plate, add water to the battery, then before measuring specific gravity of the electrolyte, recharge the battery.

  1. If the battery level is insufficient, the charging should be made using one of the commercially available types of charger:
    1. Disconnect the battery positive and negative wires (in that order) ;.
    2. Check the fluid level in the banks, if necessary, add distilled water;
    3. Remove the battery filler cap;
    4. Proceed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions charger.
  2. If you charge the battery does not provide adequate efficiency, it should be sent for load tests using special equipment to a nearby repair shop automotive electrical. Test under load in conjunction with the measurement of the specific gravity will allow to adequately assess the performance of the battery.
