Service idler arm tie rod

Models utilities (Van) (Utility) and Mini truck (Cab Chassis)

Refitting

To perform the work described below require the following special tools: sensing a torque wrench (for measurement of the initial moment of turning the idler arm); special stripper bipod steering (for removal of the idler arm).

Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Poddomkratte the front of the car and establish it on props.
  2. Remove the pins, then give the crown nuts for assembly and idler arm longitudinal tie rods.
  3. If a stripper were not available, release the ball fingers idler arm assembly using the alternative method of using two hammers.
  4. Give bolts assembly idler arm tie rod to the chassis and remove the assembly from the vehicle.

Setting

Installation is in the reverse order.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Tighten the assembly with a force of 45 ÷ 55 Nm.
  2. Rated force tightening castellated nuts is 88 ÷ 113 Nm.
  3. Cotter pins must be replaced without fail.
  4. In conclusion, using a grease gun lubricate the idler arm assembly lubricant required grades.

Dismantling

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the idler arm assembly tie rod from the car.
  2. Firmly hold the assembly in a vice with soft sponges. Remove the cotter pin and take the retaining nut (assembly components are shown in the accompanying illustration). With the help of a stripper remove the bipod steering idler arm with its axis.
1 - cotter
2 - a nut
3 - idler arm
4 - gland
5 - a casing
6 - bushing
7 - axis
8 - a spring
9 - spring plate
10 - a lining
11 - cover
12 - bolts
  1. Give cover bolts idler arm to the housing.
  2. Remove spring with her dish, discard the gasket.
  3. Remove the axle from the housing and remove the top plug.
  4. With a suitable punch and hammer, carefully knock out the oil seal from the lower end of the housing, then remove the bottom plug.

Cleaning and checking the status of components

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Rinse all components of the assembly in a suitable solvent, then thoroughly dry them.
  2. Inspect the cover assembly for cracks and other damage.
  3. Check the status of the axis of the casing and sleeves. In case of signs of wear or damage, replace defective components.
  4. Check the condition (wear and loosening compression force) of the spring.
  5. Inspect the arm for cracks and other damage.

Assembly

Installation is the reverse order of removal.

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Set the cover idler arm sleeve.
  2. Lubricate a new oil seal on the outside suitable sealant, then plant it with the bottom of the mandrel into the housing. Lubricate the oil seal lips multi-purpose grease.
  3. Grease with universal greasing the contact surfaces of the casing and the axis of the sleeves, and then insert the axle housing
  4. Set the plate and spring. Make sure the tabs of the spring plate properly settled in the housing.
  5. Install the idler arm housing cover with a new gasket, tighten the fixing bolts.
  6. Put the lever on the axle, tighten the fixing nut and lock it with a locking pin.
  7. Measure the starting torque of the idler arm rotation:
    1. Grasp the lever and move it back and forth in a range of approximately 90 ? for the distribution of lubricant.
    2. Put the nut on the axis of the arm replaceable face head.
    3. Connect the sensor head and a torque wrench, applying a force to the collar key, consider the amount of torque when the pushing arm off. The nominal value of 4.9 Nm.
    4. If the result does not correspond to the desired value, the lever must be disassembled and eliminate the cause of biting.
