Distributor
Maintenance distributor Distributor Cap should be cleaned inside and outside at regular intervals to remove residual sludge, dust or moisture. Also clean the slider valve. To clean, use a cloth soaked in gasoline; at the same time cover check for cracks. Replace slider of the distributor, if the contacts are worn out. Brass contacts in any case can not be sanded or rasp. An outer surface of the high-voltage cables are clean and dry to ensure the normal flow of current in the ignition system. Remove all wires from the distributor, clean and check the contacts. Wires can not be shortened to correct the bad ends of the contacts. Always replace wire. Removal and installation of the distributor of ignition If the valve is removed from the engine, it should be installed in the same position, to maintain the regulation of ignition. For this reason, all the elements and mark without cranking the engine shafts, insert the distributor so that the grip has been installed in the same position. | - Turn off the ignition distributor ignition cables or remove the cap from the distributor by releasing the clips.
- Disconnect the cable on the side of the distributor and disconnect the vacuum pipe from the device when it is connected.
- Rotate the crankshaft to the piston of 1st cylinder is at TDC compression stroke (see. for injection engine or a for gasoline) and mark the position of the nose slider of the distributor relative to the outer edge of the distributor housing, as shown in the
| The piston of cylinder 1 is in TDC position, when the label "0" coincides with the tip of the pointer. |
| When the piston of 1st cylinder is at TDC, the pointer (1) and the "0" mark on the belt pulley (2) must be the same. |
| Before removing the distributor (2) to the housing (arrow) in front line of the slider (2). |
- Loosen the screws and remove the distributor valve of the engine.
- If the crankshaft was not turned or distributor has not been repaired, install the valve to the previous position. If the valve is installed after disassemble or bulkhead of the engine, you must do the following:
- Establish the piston of 1st cylinder to TDC of the compression stroke, t. E., All valves should be closed (to do this, remove the cylinder head cover).
- Turn the slider of the distributor so that he stood in front of the body supported on the edge of the label, as seen from
- Insert the valve in this position and tighten. Connect all cables and put on the distributor vacuum line.
- Finally, check the ignition timing (Section Adjusting ignition timing).

Repair of the distributor of ignition Currently, repair of distributors of ignition is hardly performed, so that we will not describe the work on injection and gasoline engines with catalytic converter, where the distributor is part of the electronic system, which can not interfere. Only valve engine without catalyst can be repaired, if the trade network has spare parts. The distributor is of conventional design. If the valve is damaged seriously, it must necessarily be replaced. Adjusting the gap This operation is only required on the valve of the engine without catalyst. For flawless generating sparks at some point between the four vertices sensor ignition distributor rotor and a stationary stator gap should be between 0.3 to 0.5 mm. To measure, remove the distributor cap and turn the crankshaft until one vertex of the rotor will not stand in front of the stator, as shown in the illustration below. Insert the probe into the existing gap, as shown in the illustration. If you want to loosen both screws (arrows) and slide the stator out until the gap will not match the required value. Then, retighten the bolts and measure the clearance again. |

Checking vacuum and centrifugal adjustments These works are also required only for vehicles without a catalyst. Vacuum adjustment can be accurately measured only by means of electronic devices. However, the health check of the vacuum device can be carried out as follows, if there is a stroboscope: | - Find a notch in the belt pulley of the crankshaft and mark with paint. To do this, unscrew the plate screwed to get to the pulley.
- Connect the strobe in accordance with the instructions to him and start the engine. Leave the engine running at idle.
- Increase the engine speed, guiding the beam strobe lights on the crankshaft pulley. Resection thus begins to shift that first caused by the operation of the mechanism of a centrifugal regulator.
- Ask the assistant to disconnect the hose from the distributor of ignition and at the same time watch the mark on the belt pulley. If the hose is removed and inserted again, the mark on the belt pulley in the beam of a stroboscope should move back and forth.
- If so, and the motion is without jerks, it can be assumed that the vacuum adjustment works normally.
- Otherwise, it may be damaged by the vacuum device. Also, a vacuum hose may be leaking place. To check the centrifugal mechanism, first remove the distributor cap and grab the slider shown in the illustration below way. Turn the slider to the left and then release. Runner must immediately return to its original position.
| Check centrifugal weights distributor. |
- Start the engine again and send the strobe lamp on the pulley. If a different number of revolutions mark should move in the beam strobe lamp that shows the adjustment mechanism to work, however, this test does not indicate whether adjustment is carried out at a different speed. This can be measured accurately only with a special tool.

Repair of the distributor Repair of the distributor of ignition of transistor or electronic ignition system is not carried out at the moment, so the description thereof is not given. In case of serious damage to the distributor must be replaced.
