Removing the axis of the rear hub
The axis of the hub must be replaced if the bearing race on it turned, the nut thread is damaged or bent axle. The rear hub should be removed. | - On the back of the brake shield, loosen the union nut of the wheel brake cylinder (Drum brakes) or remove the brake caliper. Collect leaking brake fluid.
- Remove the shield brakes with brake pads or plate (on disk brakes) from the axis of the hub and set aside, without damaging the cable of a manual brake.
- On the underside of the axle hub unscrew a bolt of transverse and longitudinal lever and loosen the two screws that secure the axle hub to the bottom of the strut. Also, disconnect the anti-roll bar, to have more freedom of movement when working. Check the axle hub for wear in the bearing areas, check the seals and the surface of the landing thread.
- Installation is performed in reverse order with regard to the following points:
- Place the hub on the axle strut, without delay, and substitute under spring strut lift. Lift the spring strut, until it is energized (the body a little rise of the pillars) and tighten the bolts and nuts shown in the illustration of a torque when the wheels are placed on the ground.
- Install the brake shield and tighten the bolts to 33 - 45 N ??? m. Tightening is done crosswise. It does not stain the brake pads. The disc brake caliper set.
- Install the wheel hub as described in Section rear hub and hub bearings.
- Connect the brake line and pump the brakes as described in Section pumping the brakes.
- Lower the car on wheels and tighten bolts and nuts of the transverse and longitudinal levers with those given to torques.
