Removing and installing rear axle



For removing and installing rear axle do the following:
- Loosen the screws of the rear wheels;
- To establish an emphasis under the front wheels;
- Install the rear part of the car on support and remove the wheel;
- Establish a support (jack) at the rear axle;
- Disconnect the parking brake cables (see. Section "Brakes");
- Disconnect brake hoses (see. Section "Brakes");
- Disconnect the pressure regulator to drive the rear brake (see. Section "Brakes");
- Fold the rear seat backrest and remove the luggage compartment;

- Remove the cover (Fig. 6.9), covering the top support of the rear suspension;
- Using a special key 3079 Volkswagen, remove the top nut spring strut;
- Remove the washer and bottom nut spring strut;
- Disconnect the regulator of brake forces on the rear axle;
- Mark the location of the dismantled elements of the rear suspension on a car body;
- Unscrew the nuts of bolts securing the rear suspension to the body and remove the bolts;
- Remove the rear axle.
Installation of the rear axle is carried out in reverse order of removal. Wherein:
- Carefully lift the rear axle and at the same time set the shock absorber rod racks into the holes of the upper supports of the rear axle;

- Tighten the screws 5 (see. Fig. 6.8), a torque of 25 Nm;
- Set the washer 4 and tighten the nuts 3 torque 15 Nm;
- Install rear axle and tighten bolts 13 torque 70 Nm;
- If the bracket 8 rear suspension removed, install the rear axle brackets and align its position. The beam 12 should form an angle (?� 1 ?�) with respect to the axes of the brackets. Install the bolts and tighten the nuts 12, tightening torque 80 Nm;
- If the rear suspension brackets dismantled and disconnected from the body of the vehicle, first connect them to the rear axle. Install the bearing bolts and center right arm so that the screws are centered holes. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 70 Nm. On the left side between the bracket and install the two axle beam mounting of the blade and push the beam in the rubber sleeve. Tighten the bracket bolt torque of 70 Nm.
