Headlights
By car Golf III / Vento as light sources use a variety of halogen lamps, which have, compared to conventional lamps, a large light output and long life. The main parts are incandescent lamps, reflector and diffuser. The reflector inside covered with special heat-resistant varnish, on which a thin layer of aluminum, creating a mirror reflective surface. The reflector is a parabolic mirror that reflects and focuses the light. According to government regulations, passing beam must have a special form - with asymmetric boundary of light and dark areas in which the maximum value is concentrated on the right side of the roadway. To meet these standards, a special lens is made of glass and has, on the inner side of a cylindrical lens, a prism and a plane parallel to that divert the reflected light reflector in a desired direction. In addition, the car is equipped with an adjustment of the angle of the optical axis of the headlights. This system should prevent blinding oncoming drivers with a loaded vehicle. The car Golf III / Vento each lamp has a servomotor - stepper motor which rotates the movable reflector around the lamp axis to the desired position and thereby the tilt axis of the headlights. Starting position lights on the switch is indicated by the number "0". The maximum angle of inclination of the optical axis washers marked "3". Once a year, you need to check the efficiency of the system adjust the angle of the optical axis of the headlights.

The individual elements are shown in lights Fig. 9.8.
Replacing the lamp lights Incandescent lamps are removed from the engine compartment. Replacing the lamp does not change the alignment of lights. If the lamp is removed, then you need to check it just in case adjustment.
A WARNING When replacing headlight bulbs use gloves to the glass bulb left fat fingerprints, as even slight traces of fat on the burning lamp lead to the darkening of the bulb and rapid lamp failure. If such evidence is, remove them with alcohol. |
Replacement lamp lights sequence is as follows: - Remove from the engine compartment protective cover 7 (see. Fig. 9.8). To do this, turn the cap counter-clockwise and remove it. Now the spotlight has the form shown in Fig. 9.9;

|
- Remove the plug from the socket lamp lights on the rear side lights; - Lift the retaining clip 2 on the projections 3 and remove the bulb from the socket 1; - Install a new lamp (use gloves). When installing the lamp, "tabs" on the lamp cap should enter into the grooves on the reflector; - Slide the locking clip; - Insert the plug into the socket lamp lights; - Put on the lid and turn it clockwise.
Replacing the lamp front side light Replace the front position lamp light sequence is as follows: - Remove from the engine compartment protective cap lamps; - Remove the rear of the unit lights cartridge with a lamp of dimensional light and plug strip; - Press the bulb (bayonet socket), turn it counterclockwise and remove the cartridge; - Replace defective lamp cartridge and slide the new lamp and plug strip in the reflector; - Put the protective cover and turn it clockwise.
