Cylinder block

NOTE
Check and, if necessary, repair the cylinder is recommended by qualified professionals at service stations, has all necessary equipment.

It is assumed that the block is removed from the vehicle, removed from it all exterior elements and electrical switches / sensors. Prior to the inspection of the cylinder block to remove all remnants of the old gaskets and sealants. Remove all rod caps, for which drill a small hole in the plug, screw the self-tapping screw into the hole and pull the plug by pulling the screw head. Remove all plugs from the oil channels. Flush all internal passages with warm water as long as the resulting water is clear, and then dry the block and grease it with a thin layer of oil. If possible, purge all channels. After completion of these works establish new plug oil passages, brushing them properly sealant.
Perform a thorough inspection of the cylinder:
- Make sure there are no visible cracks or corrosion. Check for stripped threads in the tapped holes. If necessary, clean / restore tapping threaded elements required size;
- Check the mirror surface cylinder engine for scoring. Keep in mind, if the damage is in the early stages, it may be possible to restore the block through the bore of the cylinder;

The points of measurement of the diameter of the cylinder
Fig. 2.24. The points of measurement of the diameter of the cylinder

- Using callipers make three measurements on the same plane with the axis of the crankshaft, one in the upper part of the cylinder wall, about 10 mm below the ridge of wear, one - at mid-height of the cylinder, and another - at a point approximately 10 mm above the bottom the edge of the cylinder bore (Fig. 2.24). Then turn the bore gauge 90 ?, so that it is perpendicular to the plane passing through the axis of the crankshaft, and repeat the measurement. Compare all six of the values obtained with those given in the Table. 2.8. If the difference in diameter between any two cylinders exceeds the limit of wear, or if the diameter of any cylinder exceed the maximum allowable, perform the cylinder bore;
- As described for the cylinder head, inspect the surface of the unit, interfaced with the cylinder head in two directions. The manufacturer does not specify the maximum allowable value, but as a rough indicative, you can use a value of 0.05 mm;

- Before assembling the engine it is recommended to perform honing cylinder bores. This processing is performed with an abrasive tool which forms during its motion on the surface of the bore "shading" (Fig. 2.25). Although it is believed that this procedure is available to the layman, it is strongly recommended to hold it at the service station, the necessary equipment;
- If for any reason the motor assembly is delayed, process flow engine oil to prevent rust. Store it in a dry place protected from the dust and dirt.
