Exhaust system (on vehicles with petrol engines)
The exhaust system (exhaust gas) vehicles with petrol engines includes the exhaust manifold, front exhaust pipe, muffler, oxygen sensor associated with KSUD, and catalytic converter. To reduce the emissions of harmful gases into the atmosphere most of the vehicles equipped with catalytic converter, which reduces their content of 90-95%. For normal operation, the neutralizer composition of the exhaust gas must be kept within certain limits. This task is performed by the controller. Depending on the oxygen sensor readings it dynamically adjusts the composition of the fuel-air mixture to optimize combustion. The sensor output voltage changes depending on the oxygen concentration in the exhaust gas. It is equipped with a built-in heating element - it reduces the time it warm up to operating temperature.
A WARNING Converter and oxygen sensor sensitive to lead compounds. Therefore, if the vehicle is equipped with a catalytic converter, it is strictly forbidden to work (even brief) on leaded gasoline. |
