Removal and installation of the vacuum amplifier
NOTE On models with left-hand drive and ABS brake booster can not be removed without first removing the ABS hydraulic unit. |
Removal of the vacuum amplifier spend in the following order: - Remove the brake master cylinder (see above). - Remove the clutch master cylinder on models with a manual transmission with manual shift or remove the brake pedal position sensor on the models equipped with ABS;

- Remove the heat shield 8 (see. Fig. 8.25) (if installed) from the front of the vacuum amplifier, then gently release the vacuum hose from the grommet 9 amp; - Being in the car, remove the brake light switch; - Disconnect the bulb from the pusher spring lock brake pedal; - Remove the four nuts of the vacuum brake booster and remove it together with a gasket 11. The installation of the vacuum amplifier spend in the following order: - Check the condition of the sealing ring 9 booster vacuum hose. There shall be no evidence of damage or deterioration. If necessary, replace the sealing ring of the new; - Establish a new lining 11 on the rear side of the amplifier and set the amplifier in the engine compartment; - Being in the car, make sure that the pushrod is properly inserted in the brake pedal and lock the ball on the pedal pusher. Check the pedal mounting, screw nuts amplifier to shield the engine compartment and tighten them to a torque of 20 Nm; - Carefully insert the vacuum hose into place into the amplifier, in any case, do not move with the sealing ring 9; - Set the amplifier heat shield 8, if it is by design; - On models equipped with ABS, set the brake pedal position sensor; - Set the brake master cylinder. For gearboxes with manual control, set the clutch master cylinder; - Set the brake light switch; - Start the engine and check for leaks from the connection of the vacuum hose to the amplifier; - Check the operation of the braking system.
