Removal and installation of the steering mechanism
Removal of the steering mechanism Disconnect the battery.
Remove the trim in the footwell, this unscrew the nut (Fig. 5.9).
Remove the bolt 1 and remove the universal joint 2 with a steering mechanism (Fig. 5.10). Remove the front wheels. Loosen the tie rod nut, but do not unscrew.
ATTENTION To protect the threads leave nut on a pin screwed several turns. |
Extract the tie rod end from the wheel bearing housing using ball joint puller and then unscrew the nut (Fig. 5.20). Remove the bottom screen proofing. Remove the connecting rods from stabilizer. Remove the nuts. Remove the rocker support with the gearbox for this unscrew bolts 13.

Remove the mounting of the exhaust system with the subframe (Fig. 5.21). Remove the screws from the heat shield.
Vehicles with auxiliary heater
2 Remove the bracket from the stretcher.

Remove the bolt and slide in additional heater exhaust pipe 1 upward (Fig. 5.22).
Continuation of the assembly operations for all vehicles Remove the heat shield from the stretcher. Then remove the bolts 3, 6, 11 and 14 of the steering mechanism and the stabilizer (Fig. 5.21). Fix the frame and console. Place the rack for the engine and gearbox under the subframe.
Suppose, for example, a block of wood between the 1 stand for the engine and gearbox and subframe (Fig. 5.23). Remove the screws 4 and 5, and a little lower subframe with the consoles. At the same time watch out for electrical wires (Fig. 5.21).

Remove the bolts.
Unlock all other cable attachment point on the steering mechanism. Disconnect from the steering electrical connections. Gently lower the subframe at the front for the engine and gearbox. Separate steering of the sub-frame and lower. Place the steering mechanism, as shown in the figure.
