Removing the steering rod
Set the wheels straight. Clean steering box in the boot. Hold by turning the tie rods 2, loosen the lock nut 3 (Fig. 5.28). Remove the front wheel. Loosen the nut a few turns rod end, but do not remove it. To protect the nut thread wound on leave a few threads of the upper finger. With the help of a stripper of spherical hinges press out the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Now you can unscrew the nut.
Remove the spring clip (Pos. 1 Fig. 5.28 ticks to set the clamps with the bellows and slide it towards the steering rod. Remove the collar and pull boot from steering box housing.
Using the tip SW 38 (spanner), unscrew the tie rod from the rack (Fig. 5.33).
NOTE In case of visible signs of corrosion, damage, wear or contamination of the rack steering assembly is replaced. In the absence of a visible film of grease on the steering rack assembly and replaced. |
