Checking the tightness of power steering

Open the clamps on the housing and slide to the side covers of the steering mechanism.

Start the engine.

NOTE

Perform this test is not longer than 5 seconds, it may otherwise be damaged by the hydraulic pump.

Turn the steering wheel all the way and hold it for a while in this position. The pressure is raised to the highest possible value.

Check for leaks following elements:

- A sealing ring on the valve gear of the steering mechanism.

- All connecting hoses.

- O-rings rack.

Turn the steering wheel all the way to the other side, hold for a while in this position and repeat the test.

Replace covers and secure them with clamps.

NOTE

If there is oil in the housing of the steering mechanism and / or in a protective case, replace the steering gear.
