Table 4.6. Letter designations of an index of speed / maximum permissible speed

Load Index / Loadindex (LI)

The load index indicated on the tire sidewall. It indicates the maximum permissible load which a tire can withstand.

The load index is specified in the tire size designation eg 195/65 R 15 91T. It is indicated on the bus at a rate of ETRTO as a digital code. The following table shows the used VW load indices with the corresponding tire loads.
