Bleeding brake system
Repair or replacement of a support is usually enough of his individual pumping. If, during the performance of work in the brake pedal was depressed, the brake fluid does not flow out of the system. For brake system can only use the original brake fluid Volvo's marking DOT 4+ (minimum). Do not use old brake fluid.
NOTE After repair of a support rather his individual pumping, and after replacing the master cylinder or ABS unit is bled the entire system. |
Brake fluid should be stored in the original packaging, tightly closed. In preparation for pumping: - Switch off the ignition; - Clean the lid of the brake fluid and the surrounding area; - Remove the cover. Venting system can be carried out in a usual manner and using a special device, creating excessive pressure. When bleeding the system using a special device that creates overpressure, follow the manufacturer's instructions for operation of such a device. Bleeding brake system without the special equipment needed to carry out with the engine off with an assistant and in the following sequence: - Clean the dirt valves pumping wheel brake and remove the protective caps;

- Replace the valve pumping right rear brake transparent hose (Fig. 6.16), the other end lower in the capacity partially filled with brake fluid, so that the end of the hose immersed in the liquid; - Check brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir and bring it up to the mark max. Further, when pumping continuously monitor brake fluid level and top up with it, avoiding falling below the label ?min?; - Press several times on the brake pedal to remove air bubbles from the brake master cylinder; - Unscrew 3/4 turn valve pumping right rear brake and do 4-5 strokes of the brake pedal. The liquid flowing out of the hose will be visible air bubbles. In the fifth roll, press the pedal all the way and hold until the valve screw pumping, then release the pedal; - Check brake fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir and, if necessary, add a liquid; - Pumping up again until completely no air bubbles in the air of a transparent hose. Check the brake system after pumping: - Remove the equipment for pumping; - Check the presence of residual air in the system by pressing the brake pedal as in normal braking. After a 3-4-fold brake pedal is depressed when the engine is off its course should not exceed 40 mm. If the pedal is greater than 40 mm, repeat the pumping; - Check for leaks from the brake system; - Check brake fluid level in the tank, wipe spilled brake fluid.
