Circuit breakers
To protect the electrical components used several types of fuses. In cars S40 / V40 are 4 different types of fuses: 1) a large fuse with screw connection (120 A); 2) large flat pin fuses; 3) normal fuses; 4) miniature fuses (only in the cabin).

In block 1 (Fig. 10.2), installed in the engine compartment, there are the following fuses: 1) main fuse starter and alternator (120 A); 2) a few fuses for higher amperage for the subsystems; 3) conventional fuses for different components. In block 2, established under the dashboard next to the reception are: 1) All fuses located after ignition; 2) several fuses are located directly in the chain of supply. Some elements of the system are protected by several fuses installed in series.
For example: Cigarette lighter: The main fuse (1/1), then the fuse (1/2) Power fuse / relay box under the dashboard, then the fuse (2/13) in the relay interior lighting.
