Replacing control arm, and silent blocks



When replacing the control arm must be considered that it is made as one piece with the ball joint. To carry out work to replace lever and silent blocks should be in this order:
1) Remove the control arm:
- Loosen the bolts of the front wheel; post the wheel, lift the car; remove the wheel;

- Remove the bolt Hob front and two rear bolts Hob (Fig. 7.12);
- Pull the wheel aside and remove the control arm by removing him from the cross beam; taking care to ensure that no sex went out of the gearbox;
- Loosen the nut of the ball joint as far as possible;

- Extract the ball joint using a special tool 999 5637 (Fig. 7.13).
To install the support tools press down;
- Unscrew the nut and remove the control arm.
2) Check the ball joint knuckle:
- Screw the nut with a torque wrench 999 8087 measure time turning the ball joint; He should be 1-3 Nm;
- If the turning point is outside this range, replace the control arm;
3) Replace the protective cover (if it is damaged or scratched)
- Clean the area around the ball joint;
- Remove old protective cover;
- To lay the grease into a new bag and set it in place;
- Make sure that the retaining spring fell into place;
4) Replace the rear suspension arm rubber mount:

- Place the control arm under the press and put a rubber mount tool 998 5433 (Fig. 7.14);
- Extract the wishbone of a rubber bearing with a mandrel;
- Clean the end of the shaft;
- Soak soapy new rubber mount and press it onto the shaft control arm with special tool 999 5065;

Pulling out the front of the rubber support control arm with special tool 999 5624 and 999 5625, pre-moistened tools 999 5624 soapy water to facilitate the extraction of rubber bearings and partially cutting the rubber mount for proper installation of the holder (the holder 999 cuts through the rubber 5626)

5) Press out the front rubber mount of control arm (Fig. 7.15)
e) Replace the front rubber mount in control arm:

- Put your finger and install the special tool 999 5626 (Fig. 7.16);
- Lubricate with soapy water rubber mount, install it on your finger and press in to the control arm. Rubber Bearing should stand parallel to the control arm;
- Remove the holder 999 5625 and remove the finger;
6) Install the control arm (see. Fig. 7.12):
- Set the control arm in the transverse beam, put the bolt and nut;
- Press in the ball joint into place, tighten the nut to 67 Nm;
- Establish a support as close as possible to the ball joint and swing the suspension up and down several times to rubber feet fell into place;
- Tighten the nut front Hob torque; Check wheel alignment.
