Ribbed belts

Ribbed belts drives the generator, water pump, air conditioning compressor, power steering pump and engine cooling fan. On some models, the drive water pump is a separate V-belt.

Withdrawal
Disconnect "weight" from the storage battery.
When removing the V-ribbed belt is necessary to consider the following:

A WARNING
Chalk, markers or paint mark the direction of rotation of poly V-belt. After setting the belt rotates in the opposite direction, which may result in its destruction.

Units operated by ribbed belt on the engine AEB, ANB, AJL and APU

Units operated by ribbed belt on the engine AEB, ANB, AJL and APU: 1 - a bolt, 10 Nm; 2 - radiator fan; 3 - bolt 25 Nm; 4 - the water pump pulley; 5 - ribbed belt; 6 - bolt 10 Nm dovernut 90 ?; 7 - pulley-damper on the crankshaft; 8 - bolt 25 Nm; 9 - V-ribbed belt tensioner; 10 - a pulley for viscous fan clutch radiator; 11 - a lock ring of the bearing; 12 - bolt 10 Nm; 13 - the bearing; 14 - a bolt with a special head; 15 - a bolt, 40 Nm; 16 - bolt 25 Nm; 17 - the generator; 18 bolt 40 Nm; 19 bolt 40 Nm; 20 - Front; 21 - a bolt, 25 Nm; 22 - an arm support; 23 - bolt 20 Nm; 24 bolt 40 Nm; 25 - bolt 40 Nm; 26 - bolt 25 Nm; 27 - an arm of the generator; 28 - the power steering pump; 29 - bolt 25 Nm; 30 - the water pump; 31 - a pulley of power steering pump; 32 - the water pump pulley for V-belt; 33 - bolt 25 Nm; 34 - V-belt drives the water pump; 35 - viscous coupling

1. Install the pulley-damper V-ribbed belt 7 (Fig. 3.1.28) on the crankshaft is only possible in one position.
2. A bolt with a special head 14 is installed before installing the generator bracket.
3. The bolts 25 fastening the generator bracket are of different lengths and are fastened in a specific sequence.
4. When installing a pulley power steering pump 31 protruding end surface of the pulley should be directed to the front of the car.
Cars with air conditioning
Drive by a separate air conditioner compressor Poly-V belt.

Location screws engine cover

Remove the screws indicated by arrows in Fig. 3.1.2, and remove the bottom mudguard of a motor compartment.

Adjusting the tension of the air conditioning compressor drive belt
Fig. 3.1.29. Adjusting the tension of the air conditioning compressor drive belt: VAG 1410 - a torque wrench; A - the bolts

Loosen the screws A (Fig. 3.1.29) V-belt tensioner fixing the air conditioning compressor and remove the belt from pulleys.

Fig. 3.1.30. The weakening of the tension of the V-ribbed belt and the arrangement of bolts (1) and nuts (2) fixing the generator on non-turbo four-cylinder engines

Wrench, turn clockwise to the V-ribbed belt tensioner alternator, fan and water pump. As a result, the tension will ease (Fig. 3.1.30).
Remove ribbed belt from pulleys and V-ribbed belt tensioner release.

Setting
Put on a belt at first on the crankshaft pulley and then on a pulley power steering pump.
Wrench, turn clockwise tensioner V-ribbed belt, put the belt on the alternator pulley. Slowly release the tensioner to tighten the belt.

Location belts on the engines AEB, ANB, AJL and APU

Location belts on the engines AEB, ANB, AJL and APU: 1 - V-ribbed belt tensioner; 2 generator; 3 - radiator fan; 4 - the water pump; 5 - power steering pump; 6 - V-belt drives the water pump; 7 - ribbed belt drives the power steering pump, alternator and fan; 8 - a pulley-damper on the crankshaft; 9 - tensioner V-belt air conditioning compressor; 10 - ribbed belt air conditioning compressor; 11 - air conditioning compressor

When installing the V-ribbed belt, pay attention to its location right on the pulleys (Fig. 3.1.31).
Install the air conditioning compressor belt and adjust its tension. To do this, a torque wrench to the hex head belt tensioner air conditioning compressor in the "7 hours", create a pre-tension 25 N ? m (see. Fig. 3.1.29) and in this position, tighten the tensioner bolts to 20 N ? m .
Start the engine, check the location and fluidity belts.
