Lighting
Check lighting On vehicles with Check Control function continuously and automatically checks whether the lamp stoplight, lights and lamps in the rear lights. From time to time it is necessary to check the operation of all vehicle lamps, particularly lamps outdoor lighting. Turn the ignition switch turns on the lights and lights, check their work. Check the operation of lamps marker lights, low beam headlights, fog lights, beam headlights and additional main-beam headlamps. Check the operation of lamps front and rear direction indicators and side repeater turn. Check operation of lights and tail lights license plate light and rear fog light. Check the operation of lamps front and rear direction indicators The hazard warning lights and reversing lights. Ask the assistant to press the brake pedal and check the stop lamp.
WARNINGS To ensure the safety devices should be checked outdoor lighting before each ride in the dark. Defective bulb lights visible from the absence of illumination of the road on one side of the car. The work lights can be checked when leaving the garage for the light spots on its walls. The work of other outdoor lighting lamps can be checked by the reflection of light from adjacent buildings or cars. Faults lighting systems, their possible causes and solutions are listed in Table. 10.11. |
Table 10.11 The basic malfunctions of lighting and light-signaling devices, their causes and remedies
Replacing bulbs The lamps are installed in the car, have a relatively short life span, because they are constantly affected by vibration and heat from the heating coil in a small bulb. High temperature causes evaporation of the metal spiral, resulting in conventional metal vapor lamps are deposited on the inner surface of the lamp envelope, reducing its transparency. The halogen lamp by filling it with a special gas flasks are returned to the pair of metal spirals and are deposited on it in crystalline form. Spent a long term halogen lamps can be identified by the peculiar shine spiral. Thus, protected by a spiral lamp, and it is a long time with maximum efficiency. Since the low-light car in the dark on the road is dangerous and can create an emergency situation, you need to have in the car a minimum set of spare bulbs. This allows even the way immediately to restore the lighting.
WARNINGS Before replacing incandescent remove a wire of "weight" from the storage battery. Remember: if the lamp just burned, it may be too hot. Before replacing the incandescent lamp, check the appropriate electrical circuit and the fuse. Do not touch the glass bulb with bare hands. Traces of oil on the lamp lead to the darkening of the bulb and rapid lamp failure. Be sure to replace the failed lamp bulb of the same type. Emerging inadvertently grease stains with a clean, lint-free cloth moistened with alcohol. |
Light / turn signal Cleaning the headlights Glasses of headlights should be cleaned more often than the body of the car. Particles of dirt on the glass may screen and absorb the rays of light, resulting in a reduced range of light and the brightness of the lights. Even after hours of driving on a wet road lights are polluted by 60%, the length of the illuminated part of the road is reduced to 35 meters - a distance which is always short during emergency braking.
WARNINGS Do not clean the glass range from dirt with a dry cloth and abrasive materials, as well as with the use of detergents or solvents. Wash your headlights with a soft sponge soaked in soapy water. In certain climatic conditions (eg, low temperature, high humidity, and so on. D.) A short-term occurrence of condensation on the inner surface of the headlight lenses is not abnormal. Moisture disappears within a few minutes after switching. |

Instructions for adjusting headlights Correct adjustment of headlights is of great importance for traffic safety. Regardless of the fact that the lamp is mounted on the stationary vehicle, the position of the reflector inside the lamp changes. Therefore, when replacing headlights must be checked and, if necessary, adjust the headlights. In some cases, replacement of the lamp may break previously made adjustments. Be sure to adjust the lights and if the front of the car is damaged in an accident or after the installation of new parts. Adjusting the headlights after setting the equalizer knobs headlights to "0". Fine adjustment is possible only with the help of a special device.
A WARNING If you have special requirements for adjustment of headlights in the area where the vehicle is operated, obey them. |
When adjusting the headlights is carried out adjustment and fog lamps. When adjusting the headlamp must meet the following conditions: - The tire pressure in the normal range; - In the car it is only the spare wheel and tools; - The vehicle must be mounted on a flat surface; - Before adjusting the rocking body of the car to ensure that all elements of the suspension fell into place; - Leveling headlights is set to "0". If the lamp has been damaged or its replacement was carried out, as an initial adjustment can be set to a vertical wall of the car, turn on the lights and set the beam lights mounted flush with the light of lights, which is not removed from the vehicle. If the adjustment of light of headlights was carried out using special equipment, one can note the location of the light spots on the wall of the garage, in this case, be sure to check the distance from the headlights to the wall. With these labels in further if necessary to check or adjust the lights. At night, park the vehicle in front of the vertical light screen or wall.
| Fig. 10.34. Driving adjust headlights: A - the boundary line; B - horizontal line at the center of headlights; C - the vertical center line of the left headlight bulb; D - axis of the vehicle; E - the vertical center line of the right headlight bulb; F - land line; W1 - the distance between the centers of light of headlights; H1 - height between the center of the headlight bulb and earth
|
Draw a vertical line on the screen, passing through the respective centers of the headlights, and a horizontal line passing through the center of the headlights, and in accordance with Fig. 10.34 mark the location of the light beams. Place the vehicle at a distance of 5 meters from the wall. Turn dipped in a car without a driver. The beam headlamp shall be designed within the allowable range (the shaded region in Fig. 10.34).
| Fig. 10.35. Location knobs headlights 1 - knob main beam in the horizontal plane; 2 - knob main beam in the vertical plane; 3 - knob dipped headlights in the vertical plane; 4 - knob dipped beam in the horizontal plane
|
The first step is to adjust the headlights in the vertical plane, and then - in the horizontal and then again to verify the adjustment in the vertical plane. Light mounted fog lamps can only be adjusted in the vertical plane.

|
Turn the adjusting screw to adjust the light fog lamps so that the boundary line of the beam headlamp was positioned 60 mm below the line, located at the centers of lamps fog lamps (Fig. 10.36).
HID (Xenon) headlights (HID) Xenon lamps have a higher light intensity and spectrum of light is close to the spectrum of daylight. In connection with the greater intensity of illumination and a wider angle of illumination applications fog lamps on the vehicle is required. The xenon lamp is a glass bulb filled with xenon gas, in which are installed at a certain distance the two electrodes. When voltage is applied to the electrodes of the lamp arc discharge occurs. To ensure the normal operation of the lamp uses an electronic control unit and high-voltage unit. The service life of the xenon lamp is very large, in addition, they are vibration resistance, since they lack the filament. Xenon lamps do not work when the polarity. Check points at the lamp failure Check the battery voltage. Dipped beam can be switched on if the battery voltage is more than 9 V. Check the fuse and relay. Check the polarity of the connection wires. If the polarity is changed, the dipped beam will not burn. Check the bulb socket. Visually inspect for damage lamp glass, and the top and bottom of the glass tube.
WARNINGS Xenon headlight (HID) can not be used on other cars. Ignition can occur at the initial moment of ignition Xenon due to the fact that the formation of an arc discharge lamp voltage is necessary to bring about 20 000, and the current consumption is 12-13 A. Do not turn on the switch lights installed without the lamp, as this will cause an instant spark. |
Automatic leveling headlights Cars equipped with the dynamic adjustment of headlights in the vertical plane, which quickly react to the inclination of the car body, which prevents blinding of oncoming vehicles and improves safety. The electronic control unit with built-in sensor, mounted on the rear axle, activates the starter mounted on the lamp, on the basis of the input signal that occurs when changing the tilt of the car body. The electronic control unit with built-in sensor consists of an axial sensor and the control itself (including sensor inductance, application specific integrated circuit ASIC, MICOM, and so on. D.). The angle of the light beam headlights is automatically changed depending on the inclination of the body. The microprocessor uses information about the angle of the operating lever or the speed signal. Working conditions The system works when the ignition is turned and dipped beam. The vehicle is stationary when receiving sensor signal to change the angle from 2 ? or more, the lamp fulfills the deviation of no more than 1.5 seconds. If the moving speed of the vehicle is greater than 4 km / h, the change rate is in the range of 0.8-1.6 km / h for 1 sec and the vehicle is loaded, the system automatically turns on the alignment light range.
Check of elements of the lighting system Blinker and alarm Remove the indicator relay from the relay block.

Additional wires connect the positive terminal of the battery to the terminal "2" relay and the negative terminal - to terminal "3" (Fig. 10.37). At the same time, connect the two indicator lamps to the terminals "2" and "1", make sure the lights are flashing.
A WARNING The direction indicators must flash at a frequency of 60-120 times per minute. If the chain of one of the indicator lamps has broken, the number of outbreaks will be more than 120 times per minute. If the breaker is not working properly, replace it. |
