The steering column / steering shaft



Withdrawal

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove the self-tapping screws and remove the horn button.

2. Remove the steering wheel nut and washer.

Before performing these procedures, see section "Airbags SRS?�.

3. Put combination labels on the end of the steering shaft and steering wheel puller and remove the steering wheel.

Do not tap on the steering wheel, as this may damage the steering column.

4. Remove the screws and remove the column cover.

5. Remove the bottom cover.

6. Disconnect electric sockets and remove the multi-selector.

7. Remove the bolt connecting the universal joint shaft and pinion steering gear.

8. Remove the dust cover bolts.
9. Remove the bolts of the steering column (4 screws).

10. Remove the steering column and the shaft with a universal joint and a dust cover.

Dismantling

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Loosen the bolt to the steering shaft universal joint and remove the universal joint.

2. Remove grease from the inner edge of the working sheath.

3. The core expand leading edge and remove the cover.

4. Apply a layer of grease on the inside lip of the lid.

5. Cover the joint, using a rod to extend the working edge.

6. The core extend behind the inner cover and pull, remove it from the hinge.

7. If necessary, remove the steering lock, cutting a pre hacksaw be cut grooves in the heads of the bolts. Remove the screws with a flat blade screwdriver and remove the steering column lock.

When installing the ignition is necessary to use new bolts with cut head.

Check

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Check the steering column and the steering shaft for damage and deformation.
2. Check the steering shaft universal joint to the absence of backlash, damage and jamming.
3. Check the angle bracket for cracks and damage.
4. Check the dust cover for cracks or damage.
5. Check the operation of the steering lock mechanism.

Assembly

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. When installing the steering column, the ignition and steering lock bracket to the column tube, temporarily install the steering lock in alignment with the tide of the column.

2. After checking the activities of the steering column lock, tighten the bolts with a cutting head.

After installing the steering lock bracket steering column lock and bolts must be replaced with new ones.

3. Install the inner lip, projection inner cover with a lubricant and pull the outside of the hinged lid.

4. Fill the inside of the bearing with universal grease.
5. Set the bearing on the shaft of the hinge.

6. Wrap bearing 1.5 turns of vinyl tape and press-fit the bearing cover.

Setting

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Before installing, apply multipurpose grease in the groove on the inside of the bearing and the mating surfaces of the cover and cover the assembly.
2. Connect the bottom of the steering shaft and the joint.

When installing, first attach the U-joint to the steering gear, then to the steering shaft.

3. Install the dust cover from the steering shaft.
4. Install the steering column assembly, and secure with four bolts.
5. Set the multi-function switch and connect the connectors.
6. Set the upper and lower casings of a steering column.

7. Install the steering wheel.

When installing, be careful not to damage the collapsible steering shaft.
