Replacing the outer tie rod
You will need: the key "12", two key "17" key for wheel nuts, a stripper of spherical hinges.
NOTES The work is more convenient to perform the lift. You can do it on the vehicle and mounted on a reliable support. Replacing the tip is shown by the example of the left steering rod tip right thrust replace similarly. |
1. Lift and establish on support a forward part of the car from the tip to be replaced. Remove the wheel. |
A WARNING Slow down the car and set the parking brake at the rear wheel chocks ("boots"). |
HELPFUL ADVICE If the fasteners are very dirty, clean them with a wire brush and treat grease easily penetrate, such as WD-40. |
| | 2. Loosen the tie rod locknuts. | 3. Remove the pliers from the ball stud tie rod cotter pin. |
| | 4. Loosen the nuts finger tip the ball to the arm front suspension knuckle. | 5. Install the ball joint remover and press out the pin from the boss of the pivot arm, after fixing a stripper, to prevent it from falling during Extrusion. |
HELPFUL ADVICE In the absence of a stripper finger ball joint can be knocked by sharp blows of a hammer on the boss end of the pivot arm, striking along the arm. |
| | 6. Finally loosen the nut ball stud ... | 7. ... and then remove your finger from the hole in the steering knuckle arm. |
A WARNING Self-locking nuts finger joints steering rods at each dismantling of the connection, replace with new ones. |
| 8. Remove the tie rod end. |
NOTE When releasing tie rod count the number of turns, so that when you install a new tip toe has changed. |
| 9. Install the new tip in the reverse order of removal by screwing it into the tie rod on the number of turns counted when removed. |
