Replacing the working fluid and pumping systems for power steering
According to the manufacturer's recommendations fluid in the power steering system does not change over the life of the car. However, if the liquid in the tank is heavily polluted and darkened, it should be replaced.
NOTE For tough dirt and dark fluid Check the power steering pump and the steering mechanism. Did they need to be repaired. |
You will need pliers. 1. Lift the front of the vehicle until clear of the wheels on the track surface and establish the car on supports. |
| | 2. Loosen the hose clip to the fluid supply pipe power steering pump by squeezing it with pliers bent tabs, slide the clamp on a hose ... | 3. ... and disconnect the hose from the pipe (in the photos the high pressure pipe removed for clarity). Drain the fluid from the reservoir into the prepared container. |

4. Similarly disconnect the hose from the tank drain fluid from the steering mechanism (see. Pos. 5 to Fig. 8.1) and the lower end of the hose into the prepared container. |
6. Drain the power steering, two or three times including starter and turning the steering wheel in both directions until it stops. |
7. Attach the pump and a tank hoses, pour liquid in a tank and bleed the power steering system. |
NOTE Displacement fluid PSF-III, used in the power steering system is 0.6 liters. |
The need for pumping occurs when it enters the hydraulic system of air during fluid replacement, repairs or tightness during operation. An indication of the presence of air in the system is a shimming of the steering wheel when attempting a sharp turn. In addition, the pump produces increased noise at the steering wheel, and the liquid in the tank is usually foamed.
A WARNING The presence of air in the power steering system leads to premature failure of the power steering pump. |
3. Include a starter for 10-20 seconds, turn the steering wheel is five to six times in both directions until it stops. |
NOTE During the top-up pumping liquid into the reservoir: its rate should not fall below the filter. |
4. Connect the pads with wires to the ignition coil of the engine and let the engine. |
5. Turn the steering wheel to both sides of the stop until until air bubbles in the fluid reservoir for power steering. |
NOTE Make sure that the fluid level in the reservoir of the power steering practically unchanged when the steering wheel in both directions. If the liquid level changes by more than 10 mm, and when the engine is sharply increased, re-bleed the system. |
