Troubleshooting front suspension
Suspension spring type There have been noises in the suspension Faulty shock absorber and / or support. Replace defective components. Damaged front wheel hub bearings or broken their adjustment. Adjust the preload or replace defective bearings. | Worn or sleeve nut front leaf earrings (see. Accompanying illustration) or weakened force a tightening of fixture. Replace defective components, tighten fasteners. |
Worn anchor finger or sleeve spring or weakened their landing. Replace defective components, tighten fasteners. A broken one or more sheets of spring. Replace defective sheets or the entire spring. Damaged wheel bearings knuckle assembly. Check the condition of the bearings, make the necessary repairs or replace defective parts. Deformed axle housing. Replace the pan. Broken clamp spring or eased his mount. Tighten fasteners or replace the defective clamp. Broken ladder spring or weakened its mount. Tighten fasteners or replace defective ladders. | To assess the degree of wear bushings and anchor earrings finger springs rewound lever between the loop springs and chassis springs and move them up and down. The weight of the vehicle shall be in the suspension (see. Accompanying illustration). Visually inspect the spring plates for cracks and other damage. Due to the high power suspension springs impractical to check the status of suspension shock absorbers on a car. Shock absorbers should be removed and checked in accordance with the above section later in this description. |
Violated the provisions of the front wheels of the car in relation to the rear | Bolts ladders springs front or rear of the vehicle. Check the central bolt, tighten the U-bolts ladders (see. Accompanying illustration). |
Broken central bolt the front or rear spring. Replace the bolt. Broken main sheet front or rear spring behind the base plate. Replace the top sheet or spring assembly. Broken finger or anchor front spring shackle. Replace defective components. There is severe sagging springs from one of the sides of the vehicle. Replace the spring on both sides. Deformed axle housing. Replace the pan. | To verify the location of the front axle, measure the distance from the reference (the reference) point on the axle housing to the reference (the reference) point on the chassis. Repeat the measurement between equivalent support (by its control) points to the other side of the car. The results of measurements must be the same. |
Broken car exchange rate stability Too low or unevenly inflated tires. Correct tire inflation pressure. Broken serviceability of functioning of the shock absorber suspension. Check, replace a defective unit (preferably paired with a second absorber of the suspension). Worn bushings or nuts spring shackle or weakened last effort of a tightening. Tighten fasteners or replace the defective components. Worn or broken front or rear springs. Replace the defective spring in tandem with the other of the same suspension (front or rear). | Due to the high power suspension springs impractical to check the status of suspension shock absorbers on a car. Shock absorbers should be removed and checked in accordance with the above section later in this description. If the front of the vehicle lurched to one side or the other, clear the spring and compare it with the new one. If the spring is found unsuitable for further use, it is wise to replace it in a couple of the opposite. The same applies to the rear end of the car. |
Suspension of the helical springs There have been noises in the suspension | Faulty shock absorber and / or support. Check Inspect rubber cushions strut for signs of aging (see. Accompanying illustration). Replace defective components. |
Damaged front wheel hub bearings or broken their adjustment. Adjust the preload or replace defective bearings. Loose bolts or nuts suspension bushings. Give the appropriate fasteners completely, then tighten it to the required torque with a torque wrench. Worn bushings or bolts suspension push rods. Remove the components to check their status. If necessary, replace. | Worn bearings stabilizer lateral stability (see. Accompanying illustration) or ball bearings or weakened their attachment. |
Broken coil spring. Replace the spring in tandem with the second. Defective bearings knuckle assembly. Check, follow the appropriate repair or replacement. Deformed axle housing. Replace the pan. | To assess the degree of wear sleeves transverse jet bar ask the assistant to turn the steering wheel left and right to move within 30cm from the center of each of the parties. Excessive movement of the sleeves will indicate their wear. The weight of the vehicle during this test should fall on the wheel. Bushings dampers can be checked by slowly rocking front of the vehicle in the vertical plane (again resort to the help of an assistant). Let's just very little play in the bushings. |
Violated the provisions of the front wheels of the car in relation to the rear | Worn bushings push rods suspension or weakening their attachment. Check (see. Accompanying illustration), tighten the fasteners or replace the defective components. |
Damaged or deformed by the push rods or anchor points. Compare dimensional characteristics of the push rods with a known good part. Strongly slipped coil spring with one of the sides of the vehicle. Replace the spring in the pair. |
Correct tire inflation pressure Broken serviceability of functioning of the shock absorber suspension. Replace sleeve or tighten the fasteners (see. Accompanying illustration). |
Worn bushings push rods suspension or weakening their attachment. Replace sleeve or tighten fasteners. Broke or slipped front or rear coil spring. Replace the spring in tandem with the second of the same suspension (front or back, respectively). | If the front falls to one side more than the other, remove the corresponding coil spring and compare it with the new specifications. If the spring is found unsuitable for further use, replace it in a pair with the second. The same applies to the rear end of the car springs. |
