Checking the suspension components and steering
Every year or every 20,000 km | Components of a steering drive and suspension should be checked regularly. Worn or damaged suspension components and the steering gear can cause excessive and dangerous tire wear, deterioration of driving performance and handling and increased fuel consumption. For more information on the components of the suspension and steering systems, refer to Chapter Suspension and steering. |
Check strut | - Park the vehicle on level ground, switch off the engine and cock a lay brake. Check the tire pressure.
- Click on one of the corners of the car, then release it, paying attention to the movement of the body. He must cease to swing and get in the starting position after one or two strokes.
- If the vehicle continues to swing or not returned to its original position, the possible reason is worn or weakened strut suspension.
- Repeat the above procedure for each of the other three corners of the car.
- Poddomkratte car and reliably establish it on support.
- Inspect the rack for signs of leakage of hydraulic fluid. Light liquid film is not cause for concern. If a leak is detected, make sure that the liquid flows because of the rack and not from somewhere else. If it is still leaking out of the rack, replace the rack in a pair on one axis (or all four).
- Check the installation and the integrity of the racks. Check the upper support struts for damage and wear. In the event of such replace the rack.
- If necessary, replace the rack, refer to the instructions of the Head Suspension and steering. Always replace both components on the same axis, otherwise it may be a threat to the security of the car. If possible, try to replace all four components are included.

Checking the status of the steering system and suspension | - Inspect the components of the steering system for damage and deformation. Look for signs of fluid leakage, damaged gaskets, protective covers and couplings.
- Clean the lower end of the knuckle. Ask the assistant to grab the bottom edge of the wheel and shake it, and themselves at this time, watch the movement of ball joints that connect the knuckle with a lever. Inspect the protective covers of spherical support for breaks. If you find a play or torn or leaking protective covers, a spherical support (support) should be replaced.
| - Inspect the protective covers of spherical support for breaks (indicated by arrow).
|
- Grab each of the front wheels of the front and rear edges and try to turn it into the front edge and the rear outside to check for play in the steering transmission. If backlash is found, check for loose mounting of the steering mechanism and hinges of steering drafts. If weakened attachment, tighten them. If weakened tie rods, then the cause may be worn joints (first check the reliability of a tightening of nuts). For more information on the steering system and suspension can be found in Chapter Suspension and steering.
