Drain, rinse and refill the cooling system
Every two years or every 40,000 kilometers (whichever comes first) | Do not suppose antifreeze hit on your skin and the painted surfaces of the vehicle. In case of contact rinse immediately with plenty of water. Antifreeze is extremely toxic and deadly when ingested. Do not leave antifreeze in an open container or spilled on the floor; its sweet smell can easily attract children or pets. Consult local regulations for disposal of spent antifreeze. In many areas, there are special centers for its acceptance. |
The cooling system should be regularly drained, flushed and refilled. This procedure is done to maintain the quality of the cooling mixture and prevent the formation of corrosion, which reduces the efficiency of the cooling system and may cause engine failure. During service the cooling system should also check the condition of all hoses and the radiator cap and, if necessary, replace defective components. Dehumidification | - Remove the radiator cap. This can be done only on the cold engine. If the engine is hot, remove the cap to the first notch (with a cloth) and wait until the steam come out.
- If the system you want to keep frost should be performed some action. In some work on the cooling system does not require coolant to drain completely. So when removing the thermostat upper hose or drain enough coolant to the level of the corresponding element.
- Set the heater to "warm."
- Disconnect lower water hose and drain the liquid. The side in the cylinder block is inserted into the cork (near dipstick), which must be unscrewed to make the engine block from the coolant. Just above is a bolt of removal of air. Open the bolt. On fuel-injected engine and open the bleed screw in the heater hoses.
- If the coolant is drained for cleaning systems, remove and empty the expansion tank. Clean the tank and replace.
- After draining reconnect the water hose and screw the drain plug in the engine block.

Flushing | - After complete drying of the radiator flush with clean water from a garden hose so that the drain hole from the bottom hose or clean water was poured. If the radiator is badly corroded, damaged or leaking, it must be removed (see chap. Cooling and heating systems) and send it to a repair shop to a specialist at radiators.
- The above-described washing will remove the radiator various deposits, but will not be able to remove rust and scale from the surfaces of the engine and the cooling pipe. All this can be removed with a chemical cleaner. To perform this procedure, follow the manufacturer's instructions cleaner. Before washing the engine, open the drain plug of the cylinder.
- On equipped models, respectively, remove the overflow hose to the surge tank. Drain the tank, rinse it with clean water and connect the hose.

Filling | - Once again, check whether the drain holes are closed.
- Prepare antifreeze coolant. The content of 30% antifreeze concentrate gives frost down to -15 ? C; 50% to -35 ? C.
- Slowly pour the coolant through the hole and fill the radiator and expansion tank. Tighten the bolt (s) vent when the coolant flows out of the holes. The coolant should be visible in the filler hole.
- Screw the radiator cap.
- Run the engine until it reaches operating temperature (fan should turn on) and then cool the engine. After a few hours, recheck the coolant level. Depending on the engine capacity of the system is different, the value indicated in the Specifications in the beginning of Chapter. The expansion tank must be poured 0.7 liters.
