Catalyst
A few words about the installed catalyst. Oxygen sensor inserted into the exhaust system (for injection engine) or into the exhaust manifold (on carburettor engine). On the outer electrode sensor to the exhaust gases. The internal electrode is connected with the atmosphere. Due to the content of certain chemical reactions and probe various oxygen content in the exhaust gases and the atmosphere generated by the electric signal. At temperatures over 300 ? C, the probe sends a voltage signal to the control unit. If less than 450 mV, the mixture is enriched if the voltage is greater than 450 mV, the mixture is depleted. To maintain a constant temperature of the probe is heated. The heating element of the probe is powered electric shock and remains energized until the fuel pump running. The catalyst is located in the exhaust system in front of silencers. The exhaust gases flow through the catalyst and react with the catalyst being inside a precious metal (platinum / rhodium). By oxidation harmful substances are converted to harmless gas. The chemical reaction begins at 250 ? C. As is well known car with a catalyst must be charged only with unleaded petrol (normal or super, t. E. AI95 or AI98). Do not park the car with the hot catalyst over dry grass or something similar, as it may ignite and cause fire bottom.
