Refitting

Removing and installing drive shafts exercising together with a nave and a rotary fist, these tasks are described in Chapter Suspension and steering. Then separate drive shaft from the hub as described in the same section.

Remove the retaining ring groove at the inner end of the drive shaft, since it must always be replaced. If you want to remove only the drive shaft, follow the instructions of the subordinate:

PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Loosen the wheel nuts and nut steering knuckle when the wheel is on the ground and set the front of the car on supports.
  2. Remove the brake caliper from the knuckle and tie a length of wire on the front suspension. Do not leave the caliper hang from the brake hose. Do not depress the brake pedal until caliper is re-installed.
  3. Remove the nut of the spherical hinge of steering draft and remove the hinge with a suitable puller with lever steering linkage (see. Sections steering without power steering and steering with the hydraulic booster (servo)).
  4. Disconnect the swivel on the upper side of the steering knuckle (see. Section front suspension), pull out the knuckle and beat out a power shaft from the knuckle of light metal with a hammer. To prevent damage to the threads of the drive shaft should be again screwed the nut on the shaft, while the outer side is flush with the shaft. Be careful not to damage the rubber sleeve with the drive shafts. Around the rubber sleeve can wrap a thick cloth. Maybe that is required to remove the stripper.
  5. Remove the drive shaft from the gearbox. If an automatic transmission, the shaft must be removed right before it will be possible to squeeze the left shaft. When removing the shaft from the gearbox, proceed as follows:
    • When removing the right shaft (illustration below), the thrust bearing insert a large screwdriver or pry bar shown in the illustration below, in the gap between the hinge and the gearbox and squeeze out a strong wrench screwdriver.

Set screwdriver for constant velocity joints to overcome the constant velocity joint from gearbox (right drive shaft).

    • When removing the right shaft thrust bearing set on the screwdriver as shown in the illustration below the place and squeeze the shaft in the same way.
Removing the drive shaft of the gearbox during a thrust bearing (right spindle).
    • When removing the left power shaft mounted manual gearbox is necessary to use a large screwdriver. Insert it into the one shown in the illustration below the place and press the short jerk screwdriver handle inward to lock ring shaft popped out of the groove.
Removing the drive shaft of the transmission at the established manual box (left shaft).
    • When removing the left power shaft mounted automatic transmission work a bit harder, because the shaft need to knock the other Transmission long screwdriver that must be passing through the blade to avoid damaging the handle. Installation screwdriver is shown on top of the illustration below. Screwdriver should be set to show the place. Be sure to watch out not to damage while the differential gear or the gear shaft. Installation is carried out in reverse order. You should always replace the oil seal on the appropriate side of the gearbox. In workshops Nissan used the installation mandrel for seals. Since in most cases these mandrels at the disposal of the amateurs are not available, when driving the gland should be extremely cautious.

Removal of the left drive shaft mounted automatic transmission. Knock the shaft with a screwdriver. Set screwdriver 5 mm in front of the axis of the bevel gear

1 - Driver
2 - differential gear shaft
3 - drive shaft
4 - gear differential
  1. Set at the end of the shaft a new lock ring and slide the shaft splines in the differential gear. Press firmly on the shaft until the retaining ring snaps into the groove of the gear. After that much pull the shaft to check whether the latches lock ring. All the other works in the reverse order. Once the wheels will again be placed on the ground, tighten the drive shaft nut with a force of 235 - 310 N ??? m, set the lock nut and lock nut and zashplintuyte shaft nuts. All other tightening torques specified in the Specifications in the beginning of Chapter.
