Check generator

External manifestation of the power supply system faults are as follows:
- No signs of the battery charge;
- The battery is discharged during the operation, but the appearance of a violation of the generator is not;
- Battery is recharged;
- When the generator makes a lot of noise;
- Warning lamp discharge AB does not illuminate when the ignition is switched.
If there are no signs of the battery charge, the reasons may be the following:
- Blown fuse in the circuit of the generator;
- Loose or damaged drive belt of the generator;
- Open or short in the wires;
- Failure of the voltage regulator;
- Failure of a voltmeter or circuit control lamp discharge.
If the battery is discharged during the operation, but the appearance of a violation of the generator is not, the reasons may be the following:
- Incorrect operation when the starter;
- Overrun of energy;
- Easing of contact connections;
- Lack of the voltage produced by the generator (due to a faulty voltage regulator or weak belt tension).
If the battery is recharged, it is possible to:
- Faulty voltage regulator;
- The closure of the output winding of the generator to the "masses."
If the generator is at work makes a lot of noise, the reason for this may be:
- Failure of one of the stator windings;
- Failure of the rectifier unit;
- The weakening of the pulley nut;
- Contamination of contact rings and brushes;
- Lack of lubrication in the bearings.
Independently, you can only check the generator drive belt tension and condition of the carbon brushes of the generator. All other verification work must be carried out in the workshop.
