There are two options for removing the control arm front suspension (Fig. 6.4) with ball joint, or without it.
Removing the control arm without dismantling the ball joint To remove the control arm ball joint without disassembling, do the following: - Loosen the nut of the spherical hinge; - Puller remove cone of the ball joint from the knuckle; - Remove the plate and Hob; - Disconnect the control arm from the knuckle; - Remove the control arm.
Removing the control arm ball joint with dismantling To remove the control arm ball joint with dismantling do the following: - Mark the position of the ball joint on the suspension arm; - Remove the casing bolts ball joint; - Remove the lock plate from the hinge; - Remove the ball joint; - Remove the bolts control arm; - Remove the control arm. Installing the control arm is carried out in reverse order of removal. Wherein: - Worn ball joint and rubber plug of the lever is replaced; - Torque bolts ball joint 35 Nm. Removing the knuckle To remove the steering knuckle, do the following: - Mark the position of the eccentric bolt;

|
- Unscrew the nuts 3 (see. Fig. 6.2) eccentric bolts knuckle and remove the bolts. Install the knuckle in reverse order on the process of withdrawal. Wherein: - Set eccentric bolts in marked during disassembly and tighten the nut torque of 95 Nm. This will keep the original camber and avoid its adjustment. Removing the front hub bearing To remove the bearing, do the following: - Using devices Volkswagen 295a and 3194, press out the bearing;
NOTE Press out the bearing is possible, using a vise and dvuhzahvatny puller. |

|
- Remove the retaining ring 3 and 19; - Placing the knuckle shoulders up, press out the outer race of the bearing; - Puller remove the inner bearing race. Installation of the front hub bearing is carried out in reverse order of removal. Wherein: - Before installation, set the lock ring of the bearing and the inner surface of the cage bearing cover with grease; - Press-fit bearing on the inside; - Set the second lock ring; - Put on the bearing housing hub on a segment of the pipe and press them into the bearing hub. Dismantling of the spring strut To disassemble the spring rack, do the following:
| Fig. 6.6. Compression springs with special devices
|
- The special adaptation compress the spring (Fig. 6.6);
NOTE To compress the springs instead of a special device can be used screed springs. |
- 3078 using a special tool, remove the nut located on the stem shock absorber;

|
- Remove the upper bearing cup 6; - Remove the suspension spring. Assembling the spring strut is carried out in reverse order of removal. Wherein: - Before installing the shock absorber, remove all the air out of him and check his work. To do this, hold the lower end of the shock absorber in a vise, remove, and then drown shock-absorber rod. Reaction force must be constant throughout the course; - Suspension springs are color-coded. Always install a spring with a corresponding modification of the vehicle marking; - Establishing buffer compression stroke to the shock absorber rod, make sure it is the correct orientation, as the end of the buffer are different from each other; - After installation of the upper support spring strut shock absorber rod to tighten the rod nuts holding it to a torque of 40 Nm.
